It’s safe to say that Canada Day 2026 will be etched in our memories forever!
First and foremost, we’re all okay and safe, which is the most important thing.
I’m incredibly grateful that my dad and Almost Authentic Apparel were there with me during this. Most of the day, I was alone, but they were only there for about an hour when things started to go wrong.
When my tent began to break, I immediately went into mom mode and ran inside with my daughter. Thankfully, my dad and partner stayed behind to literally hold down the fort, and because of that, I was very fortunate that my items themselves didn’t get ruined, but I can’t say the same for our tent and some of my display stands; and I know that isn’t the case for all the other vendors, which devastates me more.
As vendors, we’ve all seen videos online of things like this happening and think, “Oh, we’ll be prepared if something like this happens,” but today, I rediscovered the fact that you never know what will happen next. What started out as a hot, sunny day ended in severe winds, rain and a feeling of shock that still hasn’t fully worn off.
