Vacation is great.
A few days away. No rushing. Sleeping in. Doing absolutely nothing for a change.
And sometimes you come home feeling like a completely different person.
But then Monday happens. 😅
The emails start. The to-do list grows. Life gets busy again… and suddenly those tight shoulders, headaches, jaw tension, and constant feeling of being “on” start creeping back in.
That’s because a few days of rest can feel amazing without actually fixing the reason you were so exhausted in the first place.
As an RMT, I see this all the time.
Someone finally lies down on the table, takes a deep breath, and realizes just how much tension they’ve been carrying.
Not necessarily because anything is “wrong” — but because their body hasn’t had much of a chance to switch off.
Massage can’t magically erase stress or give you another week of vacation.
But it can give you a pause.
A chance to unclench your shoulders.
Take a deeper breath.
Let your muscles relax.
And spend an hour not having to do anything for anyone else.
And honestly, I think we need more of that.
Rest shouldn’t only happen when we’re on vacation.
Your body shouldn’t have to completely fall apart before you give it some attention.
Sometimes taking care of yourself looks less like adding another thing to your routine…
…and more like finally giving yourself permission to stop for a minute.
Your next vacation can still be the highlight of your year.
But hopefully, you don’t have to wait until then to feel rested. 🤍
