The chicken hat just sold out 😭

I call it the chicken hat because it was someone’s partially completed rug hooking project that had chickens on it that I found in the thrift store.

I have no idea why I’m so attached to this fabric! Maybe because I can empathize with the crafter who abandoned their project; for whatever reason. I’m sure they felt a little pang of guilt donating it instead of finishing it. I know I have.

A while ago, I sewed up some quilt squares for a new quilt for my son…and for years I never set aside the time to get them put all together. My mom was visiting one weekend and asked if I had any cotton fabric to donate to the quilting group at her church. The ladies make up quilts to donate, and I was both disappointed (in myself) and relieved to pass on my unfinished squares.

So, where am I going with this? …I dunno. These are my rambling thoughts. I didn’t work out a conclusive paragraph in my head before I started this.

To sum up…I can’t save all the half-finished crafting projects. Neither can the quilting church ladies. No one can. But we can try our best.

One less thing in landfill counts for something.

Gotta go dig out the advent calendar! I made a felt tree/ornament one a few years ago. This year, the kids have planned the hanging of the ornaments in a rotating schedule instead of fighting over it every morning. Winning 🙌🏼

I’m declaring mice a ‘Christmas’ animal simply because I can think of two famous Christmas poems that feature them (albeit very casually). 🎄

And there was a mouse in A Boy Called Christmas! So…I think I rest my case. Mouse = Christmas.

Okay also, normally photographing/editing red to represent its actual colour is frustrating enough to make my eyes bleed. BUT! the blanket I used to make up these red Pixies made this process very easy. Thank you, magical red blanket 👏🏼
