One thing Iā€™m determined to do before we move? Clean out my deep freezer!

I found some homemade tomato soup I made last summer and froze in individual servings. I wasnā€™t sure how it would freeze dry since it was pretty thick, but it turned out PERFECT.

After freeze drying, it blended into a beautiful powder that can be rehydrated anytime for a quick homemade meal. I packaged it in my glass jars with an oxygen absorber and sealed everything using my ForJars vacuum sealer kit so itā€™s shelf stable and ready whenever we need it.

I was actually quite shocked how many people have messaged me about our livestock! Hereā€™s a little breakdown of what is happening here on the original homestead. We will miss our herd, we watched calfā€™s being born, we watched calfā€™s being madešŸ˜‚ and also raised our own beef. These were some amazing years, Iā€™d be lying if I said I wonā€™t miss it. We are moving!
Itā€™s such a bittersweet feeling! Idaho has been such an amazing place for us to call home for the last 3 years. Our first homestead, Itā€™s where we learned to raise our own beef, where I made a garden big enough to feed an entire block, where I hatched far too many chickens, where we grew our family from 5 to 6. So many animals raised, so many memories made. Idaho, youā€™ll forever hold a special place in my heart & Iā€™ll never forget you. New house, new land, new beginnings. Maybe a highland cow next? A lot of canners leave the rings on after processing, but hereā€™s why I donā€™tā€¦

Once your jars have cooled and youā€™ve confirmed a proper seal, remove the rings. A loose seal can sometimes be hidden by a ring holding the lid in place. Storing jars without rings lets you know your seal is still strong and helps prevent rust and trapped moisture.

One of my favorite ways to give treats is by scattering them throughout the grass & rocks instead of dumping them in a pile.

Chickens are natural foragers. They were designed to spend their day scratching, pecking, and searching for food. When I toss out it encourages those natural instincts while keeping my flock active, engaged, and entertained.

Itā€™s more than just a treat, itā€™s enrichment.

The girls get exercise, stay busy, and have a blast hunting down every last bite. Watching them forage is one of my favorite parts of chicken keeping, I could literally watch them all dayšŸ˜†
