Here are some facts about our beeswax wraps!
These are a great alternative to plastics!
-What is beeswax? -
*Beeswax is a natural wax produced by honey bees. Beeswax has been used since prehistory as the first plastic, as a lubricant and for waterproofing, as a polish for wood, candle making and as an ingredient in cosmetics.
-What does beeswax do for my wraps?-
* The beeswax acts as a natural barrier. Beeswax wrap’s main use is food preservation. It is breathable and allows food to stay fresh for longer, reducing food wastage.
-What is jojoba oil?-
*Jojoba oil is the liquid produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico.
-What does jojoba oil do for my wraps?-
* Jojoba oil adds an extra softness and allows the beeswax to become more malleable. This allows you to form your wrap around any object.
-How to use your beeswax wraps.-
*There are plenty of options for your wraps.
*Beeswax wrap are used by moulding it around food products, containers or bowls. This is done by heating the beeswax wrap with your hands and then shaping it around the object. The warmth of your hands gently warms the beeswax, softening the wrap enough to create a seal around containers and food products.
* Beeswax wraps can also be folded into reusable bags or even cups!
-What not to store in your wraps.-
*Beeswax wraps are not ideal for wrapping all types of food. For example, raw meat, raw fish or other wet food items. These wet foods can be placed in a bowl or container which can then be covered with the beeswax wrap
