Tip Tuesday… How to deal with directional borders. My go to is usually cornerstones or setting stones. It adds interest it also helps with the overall look . Only takes an extra few minutes but worth the extra effort. Happy tip Tuesday.

Tip Tuesday… Go into the quilt store and find the busiest fabric they have that makes your heart dance. Then take that fabric to pull the colours. Once you’ve pulled the colors, you don’t have to buy that busy fabric … it’s a tool to help you pick your colours. By doing it this way you’re not at the mercy of somebody helping you that might have a different eye.. and if you’re going for a certain look, pick the fabric that feels right …use it as a tool to get the look your going for . Honestly you can’t go wrong hopefully that helps.

Welcome to tip Tuesday today we’re talking about thread. How do we pick thread ? Do we match it? Do we blend it? Are we bold do we match ? These are choices that can make or break your quilt. Puddle the thread on top of the quilt top to see what works. Understanding the vision you want is half the battle. This decision can make or break your quilt. Take your time pick what works the best .

Today in the studio… gonna be spending the weekend, making memory, quilts and memory pillows. 9 to 12 T-shirts or shirts make a nice lap / throw size quilt. A perfect size to snuggle up watch a movie or sit by the fire with . Gizmo is snuggled in the scraps . A hug from a loved one . Cost $25 per clothing item . Pillow case $25 .

Tip Tuesday part two… I picked an edge to edge that would be able to eat up that excess fabric and graphically it compliments the quilt. Also had fun with thread choices. Hopefully this helps.

Tip Tuesday… Squaring up your blocks - sometimes we don’t square them up because we think our quarter inch is good and they’re all squared but we do truly need to square up our blocks because issues do arise when we take short cuts . All of a sudden we have little tents . Square those blocks it does make a difference.
