Today, Minister Thompson announced the next step in strengthening the long-term conservation and rebuilding of wild Pacific salmon with the expansion of mass marking of hatchery-origin Chinook salmon in southern British Columbia.

Marking allows people to accurately tell the difference between hatchery-origin and wild-origin Pacific salmon. This is important for fishery management, hatchery operations, scientific understanding, and to better achieve conservation objectives.

We’re proud to support this initiative through the renewed Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative.
