Today, Minister Thompson announced the next step in strengthening the long-term conservation and rebuilding of wild Pacific salmon with the expansion of mass marking of hatchery-origin Chinook salmon in southern British Columbia.

Marking allows people to accurately tell the difference between hatchery-origin and wild-origin Pacific salmon. This is important for fishery management, hatchery operations, scientific understanding, and to better achieve conservation objectives.

We’re proud to support this initiative through the renewed Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative.

With great excitement, we are proud to announce a change of ownership at River Sportsman!

River Sportsman was formed in 1964 by Ed Enns, who then passed the torch onto his 2 sons Ken and David in 1985. Slowly, over time, Ken and David removed themselves from daily operations allowing long-time employees Dan Drover and Ryan Young to manage the store. With over 43 years of combined experience at River Sportsman between them, and the continued guidance of original owner David, the family is confident Dan, Ryan and David will carry on the family’s legacy as the new ownership group.

We would like to thank Ed and Ken for their years of experience, mentorship, guidance and the overall support they have given us. We wish you all the best in your retirement!

Most of all, we would like to thank our customers. A lot has changed in the world since the store's opening in 1964, but our customers’ unwavering support has never softened. Without all of you, none of this would be possible, and we owe all our success to you!
