Always humbled when I'm handed a bag of memories and I am trusted to turn it into a keepsake. Love how it turned out and I especially loved the phone call from the new owner thanking me. ❤ Happy birthday to this great kid.

Oh hi!

It's been a long time since I've had the opportunity to post here - so much has changed and so much remains the same in the world 😌

Many of you remember the mountains of masks our family sewed in the early days of the pandemic - elastic/fabric shortages had us being creative. Fast forward...elastic is plentiful, DYI patterns and styles are readily available and masks are now mandatory in many places and part of my everyday daytime banker job.

As I head out to meet clients tomorrow I'll be wearing my mask - agree or not it is my choice as I do my part to reduce the spread and hopefully see our lives back to normal sooner rather than later.

Oh and I couldn't resist cutting into the beautiful fabric I've been hoarding for 2 years 🥰

Stay safe and well everyone.

Happy Mother's Day to all each of you! ❤

I hope you were able to connect with the one's you love - call, text, zoom chat or a social distancing in person visit.

While today didn't look exactly the way I'd hoped - 🤦‍♀️ we woke up to snow everywhere❄ - I facetimed with my mom and spent the day in a muddy garden with these guys. 🌱

I'd love to hear how you celebrated the day!

It's GIVING TUESDAY ❤ 🥰

Today we challenge you to give back - any amount big or small - to an organization that has your heart because they could really use your help these days.

This donation to the Camrose Food Bank represents 20% of all the masks that we as a family made and sold in April.

For the month of May we'll again donate 20% to a charity of the boys choice - hint it will probably have 🐶🐱🐇 in the name. Teaching them to give back is as important as teaching them to sew.

This post is meant to be a few things: a behind the scenes and a thank you.

Many of you have reached out to order a cloth mask since the CDC and Government of Canada have recommended them for personal use. I've fielded many questions about why its take so long get them made - this picture explains the best way I can.

After I'm done compiling my order list I cut ✂️ Cut for hours, match fabric, source elastic and with the help of my husband we sew straps and pin. 📍📍📍

Things get sewn as a sandwich and turned inside out. This is where it gets interesting...each mask is measured and wire is cut to length and put in place. A hot iron and pins galore enter the equation and I press, pleat and repeat x3.

With the finish line insight we work in shifts sewing the pleats - back and forth back and forth. (The edmonton oilers 80's Stanley cup run playing in the background 🏒)

And volia - a mask is born!

The last part is my favorite! I get to contact everyone and package them for shipping. This part brings me the most joy! They are done and headed to there new homes.

So onto the thank you...I encourage you the next time you see someone post that they are making masks - say thank you. They are a labour of love and some of my fellow makers have made 100's and 1000's to help keep people safe. ❤🙏

**due to demand I am no longer accepting orders - I will repost when I am open to orders again*** thank you

I hope this post finds you all safe and well!

After a night of planning and consultation with my family - kudos to everyone who is balancing day jobs/night jobs, family, school and everything in between - I am opening up orders for masks.

Many of you have been asking if I would be sewing them and I thank for for your patience. I was able to secure a enough elastic (it's harder to find than toilet paper) for about 100 masks to be made up over the Easter weekend.

I have chosen the design below which features a wire piece on top that can be moulded to your face and the mask has an opening for a filter (if you so choose). Fully machine washable. The tie at the base allows for easy put on and take off. And the top elastic eliminates strain on your ears.

Let me be clear that these should in no way used as a substitute for N95 or certified medical PPE - where necessary. As Dr. Hinshaw has noted these covering are meant to limit the spread of your germs and it is always best to socially distance/stay home thru this pandemic.

Each mask will be $6 plus applicable shipping. Message below and I will reach out to you with fabric options.

If you are looking for another style please contact Dragonflies and Stars - Taren would be happy to help!

If you have any other questions please leave a comment below.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.

And just like that summer is winding down into fall. 🧡

Cooler weather means I'm spending evenings cutting and quilting.

I absolutley love this fabric collection from Bonnie Christine called the Open Road. It has modern vintage feeling and I can't wait to show you both quilts I stitched together.

Excited to also share that I'll be dropping off 6 brand new quilts (all new prints) in the morning to From Kicks to Kids in Camrose.
