First of all, thank you to all of you who have been wonderful customers over the past few years. Everyone who ordered a birthday cake, visited me at a craft show or custom ordered something special for the little one in their life holds a special place in my heart. My customers are really what have made all the long hours and hard work worth it.

After today my page will be closed and I wont be taking any orders anymore. What is left of my stock will be available with its prices marked down at Quality Creations-Brockville in the 1000 Islands Mall Brockville until the end of month.

I have 2 size 7/8 nightgown sets left. Regularly priced $35. NOW ONLY $20/each. Pick up in Cardinal.

Why do I not cover full cakes with fondant?
Well, there's a few reasons....
1. My homemade buttercream is delicious. Fondant is not.
2. Smoothing out fondant over an entire cake without any cracks or wrinkles takes a lot of skill. It's something I only seem to achieve if I've had the perfect amount of coffee, the kids aren't running around like maniacs and I make a sacrifice to the fondant gods. Buttercream smooths out really nicely without much stress.
3. Fondant isn't cheap. If I was to make it from scratch I would save a couple dollars but I would add at least an hour of extra work. One box of fondant, which costs about $15, is only enough to cover an average size cake. I'd still need more fondant for decorations.
4. No one actually eats the fondant. This goes back to reason #1. My crazy nieces are the only people I've ever met who like to eat fondant. Everyone else just throws it out.

Personally, I've never found fondant to be worth it. Going forward I will be referring customers who want cakes fully covered fondant to other wonderful local cake decorators so that I can focus on making cakes the way I enjoy, with buttercream.
