We are a small retail and custom processing woolen mill located in rural Alberta, Canada. Using turn-of-the-century industrial revolution carding and spinning machines, we produce yarn, comforters, pillows, sleeping bags, carded batts and rovings, and socks from 100% Western Canadian wool and specialty fibres. We also retail the goods and wears of some highly talented Western Canadian hand knitter

Our middle child carding machine got a serious bath and a haircut to start off 2024. This one was re-painted in 1986 with the most available color at the time - John Deere green! Our resident Mr fixit and full time farmer insists that is the reason it has run so well for so long (he is a john deere enthusiast). Built in 1910 this Davis and Furber carding machine has been working everyday for 114 years!

Full disclosure - we’re better at running 1900’s textile equipment than we are at navigating the virtual world, so bear with us as we get used to our new virtual surroundings as well!

Our yarn card was due for some maintenance and clothing sharpening. It's a good thing we have some of these books to go along with the machinery, but sometimes the articles are comical to read and apply to modern day standards. Thought we'd share what a card fixers outfit entailed in 1927!
