Sunshine outside, looms humming inside… the perfect weekend.

What amazing weather this weekend! Sunshine, fresh air, and a whole lot of making.

The second double-wide alpaca blanket is now finished and ready for cozy evenings, good books, and plenty of snuggles.

Back by popular request, the farmhouse tea towel warp has been chained and is waiting its turn on the loom. Woven in 8/2 cottolin, the classic ivory and barn red combination never seems to go out of style.

Meanwhile, on Big Beulah, a fresh tea towel design is underway. Soft ivory is paired with generous strands of khaki and blue, creating a simple, timeless look that feels right at home in any farmhouse kitchen.

And then… the garden called.

I couldn’t resist spending some time outdoors. The pathways have been tidied, flowers planted, and everything is beginning to wake up for the season.

What a fantastic weekend at the AACB Conference in Murfreesboro, Tennessee!

Fabulous demonstrations, perfect weather, and the best part of all… reconnecting with old friends while meeting plenty of new faces along the way. 🔥⚒️

A huge thank you to the crew for hosting such a terrific conference. Here’s hoping your creative cup is full and your forge brain is buzzing all the way back safely to your home!

So you went to dry one dish and suddenly redecorated the whole kitchen!!!🤪

Handwoven towels in juicy summer shades with just enough geometric rhythm to keep things interesting. Bright, punchy, and impossible to ignore, these 100% cotton babies are bringing all the happy chaos to the kitchen!

“Nothing tests a weaver’s faith quite like the first inches of a doublewide blanket…

After what seemed like a slow start, the double wide wool/alpaca blanket is finally underway on the loom.

Soft wool warp paired with the most beautiful natural alpaca weft… and honestly, the alpaca feels like weaving with butter. 🧈

Doublewide weaving always begins with a tiny whisper of panic… “Did I actually make two layers?” But so far, so good. There are indeed two layers instead of one giant accidental tube.

Now comes the cozy part, watching this blanket slowly grow into something wonderfully warm and squish-able!

Some warps just seem to thread themselves!
This one appears to have arrived on a SLOW boat!

A wool/alpaca double wide blanket coming up! I feel like I’ve been threading for months, yet it’s only been a couple evenings.

Soon the shuttle will finally start flying and all this threading madness will turn into a beautifully cozy blanket worth every crossed eye and muttered blue word!

Soft, lofty, and destined for serious nap competition or good book snuggles!

Next warp up on Bullah and clearly I’ve ignored the “Blues” part of Rhythm & Blues.

Same beautiful Turned Taqueté pattern by Susan Poague just with a little treadling tweak and a whole lot of “why not ALL the colour?”

These are going to be cheerful little workhorses in the kitchen. If they don’t make you smile while doing dishes, I’ve done something terribly wrong! 😉
