Today I was tidying up my sewing room and found something I have kept for 35 years 😭

An October 1990 newsletter from Fanny’s Fabrics.

Why did I save it?

Because 20-year-old me wrote in with a sewing question…
and they PRINTED my name when they answered it.

I remember how proud and excited I felt seeing my name in print. It felt like I officially belonged in the sewing world 🧵✨

Fanny’s Fabrics is long gone now, but wow… I practically lived in that store. Walking the aisles. Touching every bolt. Dreaming up projects I probably couldn’t afford yet 😅

And somehow this little newsletter survived moves, life changes, decades… and it’s still in beautiful condition.

Funny how something so small can hold such a big piece of your story.

🌺 From Hawaiian Shirt to Keepsake Pillow 🌴🚗

My client had this amazing Hawaiian dress shirt with the coolest print - vintage cars parked along the beach, palm trees swaying, and surfboards in the sand. How could I not turn that into something special?!

So… I made a pillow out of it! 🧵✨

But here’s the part I love most - the sleeves had the same border print as the chest panel, just in a smaller version. I couldn’t let that go to waste. So I turned them into a small quilt that could be used as a mug mat (or whatever little treasure you like!).

I just love giving beautiful fabric a second life. 💛
