Some people believe in sizing. I believe in strategic sock selection.

Hi there 👋

To the 45,000 new faces over on Facebook, the 4,000 new friends on Instagram and the absolutely unhinged 22 MILLION of you who watched my last video… welcome!

I’m Cait. I make things, ride horses, raise a small human, collect animals, wear pajamas to work more often than I’d care to admit, and generally seem to have a camera rolling when something slightly ridiculous happens.

So I figured it was probably time for a proper introduction to some of the characters you’ll be seeing around here.

Welcome to the chaos. ❤️

A girl, a microphone and Jolene.

Ruby was two when I shared this video. She had absolutely no idea that millions of people would eventually hear her singing — or that messages would find their way back to us telling us that Dolly herself had seen it and loved it.

At the time, that was almost impossible to comprehend.

Today, I’m simply grateful that one tiny moment from Ruby’s childhood became, in the smallest way, connected to a woman whose music has travelled through so many generations.

Dolly gave little girls a lot to sing about.

Sing it, lil’ Dolly. 🤍

When I say I like working from home because I can wear pajamas all day, I’m not joking. 🤣🍅🐾

Still smiling about this one.

A huge thank you to Heart Of The Horse for inviting us to share a little piece of sidesaddle history.

And because these things truly take a village…

Thank you to The Rusty Spur Boutique Rancherr Boot Company and Tami for the videos — especially important considering my husband very faithfully held the camera and accidentally didn’t push record. 😂

Thank you to Steve in Montreal for the bowler hat that somehow became the perfect finishing touch.

Thank you to my intuition for saying, ‘throw another bridle in the trailer’, because Ruby’s antique one broke right before the performance.

And thank you to Vanessa Ould who saved the evening when our wee sidesaddle rider decided she was DONE, with the timely offering of a bag of gummies. 😂

It wasn’t perfect. It was a little chaotic, very historic, slightly gummy-fuelled, and one of those memories I think we’ll keep forever.

Thank you. 🤎

Very exclusive audience. Very artistic pocket footage. Very startled face reveal at the end.

Thank you to those who checked it out!

Can you see what they’re up to?!

Leatherwork!

This scene is from the Tomb of Rekhmire in Thebes, Egypt, painted around 1450 BCE— nearly 3,500 years ago.

As an artist, it’s easy to think, my work is all me, it’s MY thing.

But humans have been making with their hands for tens of thousands of years.

We have something like 100,000 years of making in our DNA.

It’s not so much a me thing.

It’s a we thing.

And that’s surprisingly a happy, comforting thought.

I am so dang pleased with myself.

This was the most awkward little nook in the horse trailer. Nothing square, nothing standard, so naturally I decided I could build something to fit it.

I am not a carpenter, but LOOK AT IT.

A few hiccups, approximately 47 measurements, and now we have a proper little dresser and countertop. With pull up storage in the back.
