Inspired by the boho 70s vibe, the rich teal and burnt orange giving us a throwback! I wanted to use these bronze colored beads for something since I normally use gold, and it couldn't have turned out better!

I didn't get a video before they went off to their new home, but peep the way the sun shines through them in those later photos 😍

Osteospermum ecklonis "Purple Sun" or "Purple glow"; a gorgeous African daisy whose colors will blind you. The compliment to my pin! I think flowers, like insects, are so amazing in all the colors and shapes they come in, which is why I started this series. This flower you could see stand out even amongst the rest of the flowers whose colors were just as bright. There was something about the gradient and saturation of color that drew your eye to it.

It reminds me of a sunset or the tropics, perfect for that island fashion!

I will never understand why people prefer beige and grey over the opulence that nature has to offer...

Inspired by several natural fruits and blooms, guava fruit, this gorgeous flower that lives outside my apartment, and spring blooms in general, these earrings sparkle, glow, and shine all at once! No matter the angle, there's something different about it. Some beads have a rainbow shine, others sparkle like a diamond, and when back-lit, they have a beautiful colorful glow like stained glass windows during a sunset.

I started a series earlier this year inspired by the flowers and gardens around me, so more to come! Coming to Peachfest with me this weekend (how perfect that they're all peachy??)

Which angle do you like best?

I made this a couple years ago but I dont think I ever made a post about it?? Either way, worth sharing again because it was my first ever large brooch and I still love it!

"All-Seeing"

Inspired by "Voglio Bene's" modernized renaissance paintings, this brooch is perfect for that weird and eclectic collector. Encrusted with seed beads, bugle beads, and Austrian crystals for the tears. This was my first large brooch and took no less than 8 hours to make, thus is discounted in line with the skill level at which this was created. I hope this piece goes to someone who appreciates the alternative lifestyle or loves the sparkly things.

Measures at 8cm (~3inches) wide and 5.5cm (2.25inches) tall plus extra 5cm with the crystal tears for a total of 10.cm tall. Backed with gold sparkly faux leather to be vegan friendly.

Which part of the design is your favourite?

The piece that inspired me to do an emerald and gold collection! I made a slight alteration to my She-rah design from blue to green and I love it 😍 I've said many times before, but I absolutely love the white beads, they shine like selenite in the sun. I don't know why, but it reminds me of ancient royalty sitting in their palaces surrounded by opulent materials!

The rich gemstone colours of the Victorian fashion and decor are a constant source of inspiration, with emerald green being my favourite after cobalt/sapphire. This bracelet was supposed to be a simple victorian gothic style, and it translated well into gold and green.

I had intended on doing a whole emerald and gold inspired collection but only got a few pieces into it! Maybe I will return to this collection at one point...

Continuing with the stained glass theme and playing with lighting and rich colours.... rose garden was a small tweak to the original design. Still giving off that rich glow when back-lit!

I love the smell of roses, its my second favourite smell next to lilacs. I am lucky to live in Alberta where wild roses grow like crazy... just wish I was able to get our and smell the flowers like I used to! For some reason they have a much sweeter smell that I enjoy more than red roses :)

Enjoy!

These earrings capture the essence of gazing through a window on a spring day, featuring "white picket fence" vibes and floral motifs.

"Spring Terrarium"

Its the one thing I missed this spring because it rained for months on end! Instead of being able walk through the neighborhoods and smell the flowers, it was looking out the window watching trees fall and streets flood haha. It was quite a grey and scary spring!

Stained glass windows have been a source of inspiration for decades, the way the sun makes them glow differently at different times of the day... it's a common theme among my pieces, where I play with how the light interacts with them. In this one, I've played with opaque and translucent for when the sun shine behind it, and matte and shiny for when the sun shines from in front.

This piece was meant to embody looking out the window on a bright sunny day. "Blue Skies" made from high quality Japanese glass beads.

When I worked at The Leaf (conservatory, Winnipeg), there was a butterfly room where they would bring in different species of butterflies at different times of the year.... you could watch them emerge from their chrysalis, pumps up their wings, and get ready to be let free into the room. I looovvved telling people about the "insect soup" that a caterpillar would turn into. They shed their outer skin, dissolve all their internal structures and rearrange all that soup into the shape of a butterfly. It's absolutely alien and I love it.

I remember there was some kind of gap in the room because the building was built to "breathe", so when that gap widened between the butterfly room, tropical room, and the main entrance, there would be workers out with giant nets trying to catch the escapees.

I dont remember all the species that I was inspired by, but the large gold one was a prairie butterfly we would commonly see outside, the large blue was imported from south America etc. So fascinating!

I only have a couple left and they will be coming with me to The Orchard Seed Market on August 15th!
