🇦🇺 COME DISCOVER AUSTRALIA — CHAPTER NINE
WHERE CREATIVITY KNOWS NO BOUNDS.

Imagine walking into one of Australia's most magnificent historic exhibition buildings and finding yourself surrounded by QUILTS!

Not just any quilts. Extraordinary works of art, incredible craftsmanship, innovative techniques, glorious colour, and inspiration everywhere you look.

Welcome to the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) in Melbourne! 💕

For a quilter, this is something special.

There's nothing quite like standing in front of an award-winning quilt, studying the details, marvelling at the workmanship, and wondering, How on earth did they do that?

And then there's the shopping! Fabrics, patterns, notions, tools, and wonderful discoveries you didn't even know you needed. (You know exactly what I mean!) 😉

But what I love most about international quilt festivals is the opportunity to experience the creativity of quilters from another part of the world. Different perspectives, fresh ideas, new friendships, and a shared love of everything quilting.

It's inspiring. It's educational. And it fills my soul.

That's why AQC is one of the highlights of my April 2027 Australia Quilt & Textile Tour!

We'll have two full, wonderful days to immerse ourselves in this extraordinary event, with time to explore, learn, shop, and soak up all that creative energy.

And the best part? AQC is just one chapter of our Australian adventure!

🇦🇺 COME DISCOVER AUSTRALIA — CHAPTER EIGHT
IT'S NOT JUST WHERE YOU GO. IT'S WHO YOU SHARE IT WITH.

One of the greatest joys of hosting Quilt & Textile Tours has very little to do with quilting.

It's the people. 💕

Some travellers arrive with a friend or partner. Others come on their own, perhaps feeling a little nervous about joining a group of people they've never met.

But something wonderful happens when people begin sharing experiences.

Conversations start over breakfast. Laughter fills the coach. Someone discovers a shared interest.
Another offers to take a photograph. Before long, strangers become travelling companions, and travelling companions become friends.

I've watched it happen time and time again.

There's something special about sharing the excitement of discovering a new place with people who are just as delighted to be there as you are.

And while quilting may be what initially brings many of us together, it's certainly not the only thing that connects us.

Travel, laughter, curiosity, adventure and friendship have a wonderful way of bringing people together.

You can travel alone without ever feeling alone.

Whether you're a quilter, a non-quilter, travelling with someone or coming on your own, there's a place for you on our April 2027 Australian adventure.

After all, some of the best souvenirs we bring home are the friendships we make along the way. 💕

🇦🇺 COME DISCOVER AUSTRALIA — CHAPTER FIVE
BUT I ALREADY HAVE MORE FABRIC THAN I'LL EVER USE!

Well, don't we all! 😂 But here's the thing.

Travelling to Australia isn't just about buying more fabric. It's about discovering an entirely different world of colour, design and creativity. Cultural influences. New experiences. INSPIRATION!

Australia has an extraordinary textile and quilting community, and I've been fortunate enough to experience some of it firsthand.

During our 2025 tour, we visited the Australian Tapestry Workshop, explored wonderful quilt shops, admired beautiful textiles and met some incredibly talented people.

I came home with new ideas, fresh perspectives and a renewed appreciation for the artists and makers who share their creativity with the world. Inspired and motivated!

And yes, perhaps a little fabric found its way into my suitcase!

One of the things I love most about travelling is seeing how different cultures, landscapes and traditions influence the work of textile artists.

The colours of the Australian landscape, the patterns, the textures, the stories — inspiration is everywhere!

And sometimes, all it takes is stepping outside our familiar surroundings to see our own creativity in an entirely new light.

Our April 2027 tour will give us the opportunity to explore Australia's vibrant textile world, with the four-day Australasian Quilt Convention as a fabulous centrepiece.

You don't need more fabric to come home richer in inspiration!

Although, I certainly won't judge if you bring some home! 💕

🇦🇺 COME DISCOVER AUSTRALIA — CHAPTER SIX
BUT I'M NOT REALLY THAT INTERESTED IN QUILTING!

Well, that's perfectly fine!

Because Australia has SO much more to offer!

When I think back on my 2025 Australian adventure, some of my favourite memories have absolutely nothing to do with quilting.

Standing in the Australian Outback, watching the changing colours of Uluru.

Seeing Sydney Harbour and its magnificent Opera House.

Experiencing Australia's remarkable wildlife (the penguin parade was incredible!), stunning landscapes and the warmth of the people we met along the way.

And then there were the unexpected moments.

The little discoveries. The conversations. The laughter. The experiences you simply can't plan for.

Of course, quilting and textiles are at the heart of the tours I host. But I've always believed that a truly memorable travel experience should offer something for everyone.

That's why our April 2027 Australian adventure combines the excitement of the Australasian Quilt Convention with opportunities to discover the country's natural beauty, culture and iconic destinations.
You don't have to know the difference between a fat quarter and a quarter-inch seam to enjoy yourself!

So, if you've been thinking about joining us but quilting isn't really your thing, don't count yourself out.

Bring your curiosity, your sense of adventure and perhaps a little extra room in your suitcase.

Australia has a way of capturing your heart — whether you quilt or not! 💕

🇦🇺 COME DISCOVER AUSTRALIA — CHAPTER FOUR
BUT I DON'T KNOW ANYONE GOING!

Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that excuse!

After years of hosting quilt and textile tours around the world, I've learned one thing time and time again — you might arrive as strangers, but you certainly won't leave that way!

There's something rather wonderful about bringing together people who share a love of quilting, textiles, creativity and adventure. A very special connection!

Conversations begin almost immediately. Someone admires another traveller's busy bag (hand-stitching project). Someone mentions a favourite quilt shop. Before you know it, we're exchanging stories, sharing photographs and laughing together like old friends.

And the best part?

You don't have to be an experienced traveller, an accomplished quilter, or even a quilter at all! Everyone is very, very welcome!

Our adventures are about so much more than fabric and thread. They're about discovering new places, meeting interesting people, experiencing different cultures and creating memories that last long after the suitcases are unpacked.

Many of my travellers have told me that some of their most treasured friendships began on a quilt tour.

How wonderful is that?

So, if you're thinking about Australia but wondering who you'll travel with, please don't let that stop you.

Come on your own. Bring a friend. Bring your husband or partner! There's room for everyone who enjoys a little adventure.

You just might come home with a whole new circle of friends! 💕
