In a world of fast fashion, bespoke design comes as a relief.

Designing for Brittany was pure joy. Our meetings brought levity during a pandemic and it was inspiring to design for someone who lives her words on sustainability and supporting Edmonton talent.

Brittany's is a mindful story ....I know many will be able to identify with her.β¬
Brittany asked her Mom if she could redesign her wedding gown from the 80s. After retrieving from a Tupperware her Mom comments...."Are you sure? I mean, if you want, take it! I don't plan on wearing it again. I hope it brings you many years of marital bliss like it you did us." Now tossing it into a plastic bag.ποΈ
Brittany recalls...." A friend of mine referred me to Kathleen, and I reached out to see if she would be interested in helping me reenvision my Mom's gown. I was excited by an opportunity to get to work with the local respected atelier on a project that would have so much meaning."
"I wanted to pay homage to my Mom's original gown, but modernize with a nod to my own personal style. I've always been a fan of structure and drape and showed Kathleen inspirations from Vivienne Westwood,Iris Van Herpen & Issey Miyake. I remember leaving the studio that day and feeling even more excited about the idea of paying tribute to my mom by wearing the same dress, bur re-imagined."

"After finalizing the design, I met with Kathleen to try on a prototype in February 2020. We planned on getting married in December that year. And we all know what happened next. Like everyone we hit pause. Fast forward to the end of 2021 and I decided it was best for us to push the wedding to December 2022. By this time, my husband and I had changed the concept and the vision for our wedding. I asked Kathleen if we could remove the structured top from the gown and rebuild it into a top that I could pair with a wide leg silk trouser. And then we began designing 2.0 with the dress."
"In July 2022, Kathleen finally got to meet my Mom during the final stages. Through teary eyes, she whispered 'you look beautiful' as I stood in front of the mirror and Kathleen made the last round of adjustments."
This is why I design bespoke.π
