Baily Weir Design

Baily Weir Design Custom clothing designs, alterations and tailoring for any occasion! If you can dream it, I can make it! One fitting and adjustment session is included.

Baily Weir Design wants to bring garment manufacturing back home to the sunny Okanagan! Currently producing garments in my one-woman workshop in Enderby BC, the big goal is to open a factory right here in the Okanagan to give the local creative genius's a place to make their designs a reality without having to relocate. We use as many environmentally friendly fabrics as possible, purchase pre-love

d equipment whenever possible, and try to keep shipping costs down by finding honorable individuals to hand drop things off 'on the way through' when we can. Sometimes this means we ask you to be patient and clearly state the urgency of delivery - we will use conventional shipping when it is required.
*All custom garments require a non-refundable deposit before construction of a sample begins. Changes afterward on delivery time or design by client will be subject to a fee reflective of change.*

Merino wool arm warmers!

They are made from the calf portion of my old socks that I wore through at the heel.
No, they are not for sale, they are mine 😆
I've been stashing my holey socks away for a while and didn't know what to make, but couldn't bear to throw them away, because they are wool blend, so voilà!

I do know of a sock manufacturer that recycles socks, but I wanted to do *something* with them for fun, for me.

If you want a pair you must bring me no less than 6 woolen sockies, clean!
Happy to share how they were made if anyone want to try their own

TRANSFORMATION TIME!
This beautiful dress had its big day this past weekend, so now you get to see a couple snap shots of the work that went into making it a perfect fit!
The bride was an absolute gem to work with and gave me ample lead time and multiple fittings to get the best results!
I also fitted her reception dress and her mother's dress. However I didn't take pictures of those two.

A 'quick' list of some of the steps (I probably forgot some) involved, since the finished piece thankfully doesn't show any of it!

Secured and removed beads.
Took up the shoulders.
Put in darts.
Took those darts out again because there was a better placement.
Secured the better darts.
Opened up the lining to accomodate back adjustments.
Cut out the back, making a straightened, deeper 'V' shape.
Fitted and adjusted the back a second time for a better fit and the new dart placement.
Machine finished new back line.
Made lacing loop samples to find the best way to make the hidden corset lacing.
Made lacing loops which doubled as boning casing.
Secured boning, zipper top and lining.
Trimmed and finished lining hem.
Trimmed and finished satin hem.
Straightened and trimmed outer tulle layers.
Hand sewed beads back on.

What have I been sewing lately?
Tuffets for Make a Statement - furniture & findings
This one is available and sooooo pretty.

I do the cutting and sewing, and Tonya does well, the rest!

We do custom orders to match any room, which can include throw pillow dust cover!
As well as have a few in stock waiting for their people.

There are more for sale on her Etsy and Instagram, with even more unique refinished furniture and vintage anything!

I have mixed feelings about this fabric.
While technically "pretty" and probably loved by many, I am so not a fan of the colours.
I am making throw pillows and an ottoman for Make a Statement (she does fabulous upholstery and furniture refinishing), that will be gorgeous! But, gladly, not for my house.

A quick up-cycle project;
My partner is a flooring installer. Even with knee pads, he always wears through the knees of his pants in a few months.
When summer arrives I cut his pants off below the torn knee and finish the edge.

Voila; shorts! 😂

The fabric below the knee is in such good condition, I can't let that go to waste... Whip out the zipper collection...

Voila; tool/tile spacer bags!

Gotta love those "under an hour" unplanned projects that no one really asked for. (the shorts yes, the bags, no) Basic and satisfying!

My most recent make:
A jacket for Charly!
Upcycled from Scott - The Human's old 2 layer jacket and an added layer of quilting insulation. This prototype is quite basic, but is a good base for more fun features like collars and pockets!
I can make this style for your pet, with your own "donor" jacket for upcycle. Complete with a thin layer of new insulation and adjustable velcro closures starting at $30.00
