I am a high school home economics and visual art teacher by trade from rural Saskatchewan, Canada. I'm a crafter, tinkerer, sewer, gardener, hunter, and fisher. I believe in using our hands to create what we wear, eat, and drink whenever possible. The name "Wild Angle" comes from a combination of two large parts of my life: my connection to the outdoors as an outdoor enthusiast, and with my love f
or the arts. Wild Angle mirrors the photography term Wide Angle describing a lens that captures a wide range of view. I believe this mirrors my skills. I am a Jill of all trades, just as those who came before our current generations. I strive to share not only knowledge of the "old ways" of creating and sustaining but to share items that I have made with my own hands, with passed down skills, made entirely from my heart. Each item I create is unique, slightly varied, and naturally imperfect - All qualities of a handmade item. Some stitches may not be of the same length, small puckers of fabric may be visible in the quilts, some areas may be finished with hand stitching - just like grandma would have done. My prices are humble compared to others - this is not a reflection of quality but a reflection of my personal desire to share the handmade with those out there. I'm not here to get rich, just to share my art form with those who would like a piece of it and provide those from all backgrounds the opportunity to purchase handmade items. When you purchase an item of my store you can be assured it is one of a kind. I often purchase only enough fabric to make just a few repeats of each item, if any. I do not always follow a pattern but instead design each item to be at least slightly varied from all of the other items created. Custom orders will be accommodated upon request. Shipping time is listed at 1-2 weeks but will be within 1-2 days if I am at home (which I am most of the time!)
I strive for long-lasting products but if for any reason my items are flawed products are guaranteed within 30 days of delivery so long as washing and care instructions are followed. Depending on the situation your item will either be replaced, repaired, or refunded. For those that have misplaced their care sheets, I have listed all instructions here:
Tipis:
All tipis have been washed with a mild detergent and a small amount of fabric softener to encourage preshrinkage prior to assembly. Tipi poles are cased in unfastened pockets to allow for removal and washing. Tipi fabric is 100% cotton unless otherwise stated and is still prone to some shrinkage so a cold water wash and air or line drying is recommended in order to preserve quality. Poles are secured with string to allow for easier set up. If for any reason these strings tear with use they can be replaced with any other string and tied up to restore tipi to the original state. Iron as needed on cotton setting. Just flare each of the poles outward as far as they will go (I find pushing the two poles at the back first is easiest) and then pull the fabric up the poles (imagine pulling a sock up a leg) until the fabric is pulled tight and the tipi should sit nicely. All tipi ties have been left at full length for the purchaser to decide on how to trim. Leave ties at full length if you would like to tie into a bow. If you would like shorter strings simply trim to desired length and tie a knot near the end. Minky Blankets, Bibs, and Burping Cloths:
Minky blanket fabric is all prewashed with a mild detergent and small amount of fabric softener to preshrink as well as remove factory chemicals prior to assembly. Minky blankets are made from 100% cotton tops with 100% polyester (minky) baking. It is recommended that minky blankets are washed with cold water and line or air dried to preserve quality. Minky is sensitive to high heat settings so do not use heat to dry if possible. Cool iron on cotton side if needed. Slouchy Toques, Teething Ribbons, Rompers, Infinity Scarves:
Most items listed above are made with a modern jersey blend containing 95% polyester and 5% spandex for a comfortable stretch fit. Items made with alternate fabrics will be labelled but share the same care directions. All fabric has been prewashed in warm water with a mild detergent and a small amount of fabric softener in order to set printing ink and to encourage shrinkage prior to assembly. Wash separately in cool or warm water using a gentle machine cycle and phosphate-free detergent. Machine dry using a low temperature setting or hang dry to best preserve fabric quality. If required, use an iron with a light pressure with the printed side down or underneath a clean, light coloured towel for best results. Use the iron on a synthetic setting only. Higher temperatures may result in color transfer and melting of fabric. Much love,
