My Party at the Port Allen Edmonds Fifth Street boots in Whiskey Marbled and Black Marbled Shell Cordovan are finally complete.

I decided to keep them on the dressier side to complement the sleek profile of the boot. I started with a unique dark brown scalloped split welt, then built them with Gerberei Martin oak bark tanned leather full soles. The three-layer leather heel bases were handmade from the same oak bark leather, along with custom combination heels featuring dark brown 6mm SVIG Crespino rubber.

For added durability, I installed a 3mm SVIG Crespino half sole with a subtly curved waist, then finished them with 3mm flush-mounted solid brass toe plates that pair perfectly with the half sole.

A big thank you to everyone at Allen Edmonds for hosting a fantastic event and giving us the opportunity to select our own shell cordovan leathers. Special thanks to Alex for allowing Steve and me to customize our boots without bottoms so we could bring our own creativity to the final build.

Dr. Martens recrafts are always a fun challenge. Taking an iconic boot and upgrading it in every way possible, we installed leather split welts, fibreglass shanks, cork filler, leather midsoles, and Vibram Middlebury outsoles. To finish it off, we used the brand's signature yellow welt stitching for a factory-inspired look with a lifetime of durability.

A month ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Allen Edmonds factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin. While I was there, I ordered a pair of Fifth Street boots built exactly the way I wanted.

I selected whiskey shell cordovan for the uppers and black marbled shell cordovan for the heel stay. The team at Allen Edmonds clicked the leather, closed the uppers, and lasted the boots, but left them unfinished without welts or soles.

Today they arrived at the shop, and now the fun begins.

The plan is to build the bottoms myself, but I'm not entirely sure which direction to go. Traditional or rugged? Leather or rubber? Flat welt or split reverse welt? Single midsole or double?

So I'm putting it to you.

What welt, midsole, and outsole combination would you put on these boots? Let me know in the comments and I might just build the most popular suggestion.

Introduced in 1982, the Allen Edmonds Park Avenue has become one of the most iconic American dress shoes ever made. Worn by business leaders, cultural icons, and even U.S. presidents, it remains a benchmark for classic style and craftsmanship.

This pair arrived in need of a new foundation. We preserved the original Goodyear welts and installed Vibram Eton soles and heels with traditional leather heel bases, giving them renewed durability while maintaining their refined appearance.

We had some fun getting creative with this pair of Blundstones. Rebuilt with Goodyear welt construction, black split welts, Vibram rubber midsoles, teal wedge midsoles, and Vibram Newporter outsoles for improved traction and longevity. Known as Canada’s finest bootmaker, Viberg built the foundation for this incredible pair. We completed the transformation with our Jade Green Dr. Sole recraft package, finished off on our Rapid E outsole stitcher. Blacked out leather edges tied everything together for a beautiful contrasting finish.
