This pair of Viberg boots came in with a squeak coming from the shank area. Once we took them apart, we discovered the shanks had simply been hot glued in place with no additional reinforcement.

We wrapped and properly secured the shanks, then rebuilt them with Vibram Eton soles and heels and new leather heel stacks.

Our Rapid E handled the double stitchdown with ease.

One final touch before these leave the bench. 🔨

Hand-punched and individually set brass tacks to finish off this resole. A traditional detail that gives the heel a clean, finished look.

The Boot Restoration Station is BACK at Stitchdown Expo Chicago!

This year, Steve from Bedo’s Leatherworks and I are taking it to another level and turning The Boot Restoration Station into a must-see part of the Expo.

We’re partnering with Landis International and firing up their full fleet of shoe repair machinery to perform complete start-to-finish LIVE resoles right on the show floor.

And we’re doing it with some incredible partners.

Our exclusive boot partner, Grant Stone, will be supplying the boots, while our exclusive sole partner, Vibram, will be supplying the soles. You’ll get to watch the entire transformation happen in real time, from teardown to the finished pair.

To get myself ready for the show, I gave my own Grant Stone Diesel Boots in Storm Kudu a little Boot Restoration Station treatment.

I converted the original split welt to a flat welt, installed a full leather midsole and leather heel stack, and finished them off with cream Vibram Eton soles and heels.

I’ll be wearing these at Stitchdown Expo, so come check them out in person, meet Steve and me, see the Landis machines running, and watch us bring some Grant Stones back to life from start to finish.

Red Wing Iron Rangers, but make ’em comfy 😎

These Hawthorne Muleskinners came in wearing their original Vibram 430 soles and left with a whole new attitude. We rebuilt them with leather midsoles, leather heel rands, and fresh Vibram Christy wedge soles.

Same iconic Iron Ranger. Completely different ride. 🔥🥾

Rick Owens Geobaskets, brought back with fresh white Vibram Mini Ripple soles.

A clean reset underneath without taking away from the attitude up top.

A classic that deserves a second life.

The Allen Edmonds McGregor is a discontinued longwing brogue derby built on the iconic 65 last. This pair came into the shop ready for a full re-craft.

We kept the original welts and rebuilt them with new oak bark tanned full leather soles, leather heel bases, and Vibram rubber heel pads.

There is something special about bringing a well made pair of shoes back to life, especially when they are built to be resoled again and again.

This pair of Blundstones had their original PU soles removed and upgraded with glued-on leather welts, Blake-stitched leather midsoles, and Vibram 132 Montagna outsoles for maximum traction across all terrains.

These Iron Rangers got a serious upgrade: JR flat welts, leather heel rands, 6 mm leather midsoles, three-layer stacked leather logger heels, and Vibram 100 Fire & Ice full soles and heels. We also switched the hardware to larger brass eyelets and finished them off with handmade blue paracord laces.
