Unfortunately not all summer clothing is made for the summer. Some will have you sweating before you make it to the car.

Polyester: Traps heat and can hold on to odour. Cute outfit, but not always cute by 3 PM.
Nylon: Not very breathable, so sweat can sit on your skin longer than you want.
Acrylic: Can feel heavy and warm.
Fabrics to reach for instead:
Cotton: Soft, breathable, and easy to wear when the weather is hot.
Linen: Light, airy, and perfect for days when you want to look dressed up without overheating.
Rayon: Flowy and lightweight, making it a good pick for summer dresses and loose outfits.
Chambray: Gives you the denim look without the heavy denim struggle.
