It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our store was robbed again on April 6, 2022 at around 3PM. The first armed robbery happened on August 1, 2020 during the daytime.
Merchandise worth over $1,000 CAD was taken by a 6-feet white male in his 40s (shown in the next picture), and we were clueless whether the person was armed or not. Our customers helped call the police while in store (God bless them!) but the guy managed to flee the area. We are currently in the process of assisting the police in the investigation as the CCTV footage was shared with the officers yesterday.
During the pandemic, we have been suffering from a significant loss in sales and struggling to operate, yet we do not have a business association to go to nor government funding to rely on (except for the 3 months when asked to close in lockdown). Additionally, we have to spend extra to install the security cameras because of the crime scene getaway a year and a half ago.
We face humongous challenges and hardship in the times of COVID-19, and we are already in the process of closing our door by end of this month. But life can be a bietch. Starting from yesterday, we decided to change our business model to appointment-based, given the surge in crime in the HRM.
We kindly ask you to share information if you recognize the suspect based on the outfit OR find any ads of the products on Marketplace/Kijiji (slide to see merchandise robbed).
Additionally, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any kinds of media connections. We are so traumatized by these incidents and we find the press coverage is extremely needed to alert the businesses in retail industry.
Peace and love,
N.S.K.D.
