Every year, I look forward to singing with East Coast Carolling, it's a highlight of my year! This year is a little different (shocker!) but Christmas Carolling has changed so much from when it originated anyway!
We all think of carollers in Victorian garb, but really it started long before that! Stemming from Pagan traditions surrounding the Winter Solstice, the first carols as we know them were for St. Francis of Assisi's Nativity Plays, and were called Canticles. During the 1640s, carolling was outlawed, and the songs were only sung in secret until the Victorian times. This is why we tend to think of the Victorians as the originators of the tradition!
I love the new music pattern I have! It's not strictly Christmas themed, so you can use it all year 'round! Like many of the Christmas options, there is beautiful gold metallic detailing!

For this Highlight, we're going to talk about snowflakes! Of course, we all know about snowflakes. But! Did you know (I didn't) that some heraldry (think Coat of Arms) from places like Norway and Finland used snowflakes as part of the symbology? (Wikipedia says so but admittedly I could not find any other sources).
I have a beautiful silver and gold snowflakes pattern, and a lovely, delicate winter trees option. Both have shiny metallic details.

I don't know about you, but poinsettias are some of my favourite plants. They're so pretty, and low maintenance, and they always get me feeling festive! But I bet you didn't know that is was originally cultivated as a medicine by the Aztecs, as well as being used for dyes and as a symbol of purity.
It was introduced to America (and by extension, Canada) by Joel Roberts Poinsett, after whom it is named. There is a very cool history to how the poinsettia became such a popular Christmas plant, and you can find more interesting facts about it here: inthechristmasspirit.com/poinsettia-history/
I have two beautiful Poinsettia options for masks!! Available, as always, in sizes from toddler to large adult.
