VENDOR PROFILE / Coins, gemstones, sacred symbols, tiny relics and a little everyday magic — welcome Hannah W Craig Fine Craft as a new vendor to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Hannah turns objects with stories into jewellery with meaning. A lifelong odd-and-curious soul with special interests ranging from numismatics and insects to metaphysics, witchcraft, symbology and science fiction, Hannah creates charms and talismans meant to inspire wonder, ritual and intentional adornment. Using traditional goldsmithing techniques, precious metals, unusual gemstones and vintage curios, Hannah handcrafts Lucky Coin charms, gemstone pendants, vintage Portuguese enamel medallion pieces, sand-cast charms, handwoven silk ribbons and silver and gold-fill chains. For something deeply personal, Hannah also creates custom reliquary jewellery incorporating meaningful materials such as hair, bone, teeth or ashes from loved ones and beloved pets — small treasures made to carry memory close. Come for the jewellery, stay for a conversation about strange coins, curious symbols and whatever rabbit hole the day happens to uncover.

VENDOR PROFILE / The vintage butterfly-and-bone crone returns — delicate, eerie and unmistakably Jen. Welcome back Thistle Patch Cottage to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Jen transforms vintage and antique vessels, frames, cloches and mirrors into beautifully strange pieces that feel like they were discovered in the cabinet of a very stylish woodland witch. Using locally grown florals alongside responsibly sourced insects, bones and natural specimens, she creates one-of-a-kind tableaux where Victorian parlour, natural history and quiet ritual meet. Expect pinned moths and butterflies, specimen jars, dried botanicals, jewellery, vintage frames and haunting little treasures that blur the line between memento mori and heirloom décor. Softly gothic, a little granny-core and wonderfully uncanny, Thistle Patch Cottage gives forgotten objects a second life — and makes the macabre feel unexpectedly beautiful.

VENDOR PROFILE / Where nature leaves something behind, Maria sees the beginning of another story. Welcome Black Candle Boutique to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! A Nova Scotia–based collector and taxidermist, Maria specializes in ethically sourced bones, teeth and natural curiosities, with every specimen personally found, cleaned and preserved by hand. Her work celebrates the strange beauty of decay, transformation and the natural world, turning what might otherwise be overlooked into carefully prepared pieces for collectors, artists and lovers of the macabre. Expect bone jewellery, bone artwork, skulls, medical instruments and displays, candles and other curious finds — all approached with an emphasis on sustainability, education and respect for the environments they came from. No mass-sourced mystery bones here; just thoughtfully collected oddities with a little dirt, death and natural history in their pedigree.

SPECIAL GUEST VENDOR / From blue whales and great white sharks to shipwreck relics, strange specimens and the occasional thing dredged up from the deep, this is one booth with some serious sea stories. We’re thrilled to welcome special guest vendor Dr. Chris Harvey-Clark to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! Chris has spent more than 50 years diving, exploring, documenting and studying the ocean, with a lifelong fascination that began at age seven when he encountered the enormous blue whale at London’s Natural History Museum. A marine biologist, author, shark expert, documentary filmmaker and inveterate tinkerer, he has prepared skeletons ranging from hummingbirds to the spectacular 70-foot blue whale now suspended at Dalhousie University. His booth brings together marine curiosities, skeletal anatomy, shipwreck finds, restored antique diving equipment, animal-inspired folk art, handmade objects and other treasures born from a lifetime above, below and occasionally elbow-deep in the sea. Chris will also have copies of his books Maritime Marine Life and In Search of the Great Canadian Shark on hand. Part natural-history cabinet and part salty old explorer’s attic, Undersea Oddities is for anyone who has ever wondered what strange things might be lurking beneath the surface.

Mitchell has a lifelong fascination with anything odd, strange and unique — especially when it comes between two covers. Based in Kentville, this independent bookstore specializes in thoughtfully curated books on spirituality, mythology, nature and the wonderfully esoteric, alongside rare and out-of-print titles that may have been waiting years for exactly the right reader. Whether you’re a curious beginner, lifelong seeker, devoted bibliophile or simply someone who thinks the forbidden section of the library sounds more interesting than the bestseller table, there’s plenty to discover. VENDOR PROFILE / For Teresita, vintage fashion isn’t a trend — it’s practically a lifelong condition. She’s been dressing up since the age of six, wore vintage throughout high school, and by 18 was already buying and selling pieces of her own. In the 1980s, she even ran a Halifax vintage shop specializing in clothing, so it’s safe to say she knows her way around a fabulous old frock, an outrageous accessory and the wonderfully wearable weird. Teresita returns to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show with an eclectic mix of vintage, oddball and gloriously over-the-top clothing and accessories for anyone who believes getting dressed should be a little more interesting. Find her sharing a booth with Steve of Eclectica Antiques, where racks of vintage fabulousness mingle with medical and funerary antiques, taxidermy, natural history, fraternal relics and all manner of strange old treasures. Come for the curiosities, stay because you suddenly need that hat.

VENDOR PROFILE / Step into Eclectica Antiques and things get strange very quickly. Welcome Steve back to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show with more than 40 years of antique dealing, collecting and digging up the weirdest treasures he can find. Think medical and funerary pieces, natural history and taxidermy, religious relics, Odd Fellows and Masonic antiques, metaphysical oddities, bizarre ephemera and plenty of cool-ass trinkets with stories you may or may not want to know. Teresita is joining him again with a gloriously outrageous selection of vintage clothing and accessories, adding even more eccentricity to the mix. They’ve been saving some of their best finds since last year’s show, so expect a booth that feels part antique shop, part cabinet of curiosities and part “what the hell is that?” You never know what you’ll find — which is exactly the point.

VENDOR PROFILE / Delicate wings, bones, crystals and foraged treasures come together in beautifully preserved displays from Earthen Fern. Welcome Emily back to the Halifax Oddities & Curiosities Show! An amateur taxidermist, florist and certified horticulturist, Emily specializes in insect preservation while incorporating hand-foraged mushrooms and moss, preserved flowers, bones and other natural elements into her work. Whenever possible, Earthen Fern gives new life to recycled and found materials, including antique frames, vintage displays, floral seconds and even hand-raised native moth specimens. This year, Emily is also expanding into small mammal taxidermy, processed and tanned in-house. Look for insect frames and domes, scientific-style displays, crystals, butterfly-wing earrings and, if all goes according to plan, perhaps a taxidermy mount or two!
