Mission Statement: To Build The Local Fashion Industry
Hamilton Fashion Week (HFW) is a not for profit organization that has the main objective of building the local fashion industry. After the great success of the inaugural 2014 Hamilton Fashion Week it has become apparent that local fashion industry needs a stimulus in order to thrive and there is an opportunity to make Hamilton a fashion hub
within Canada. The stakeholders are local fashion designers, models, hair and makeup artists, boutique owners, photographers, videographers and the general population because clothing is simply a part of life. By amalgamating all of the participants resources, it will produce a level of excitement that cannot be ignored within the region and even on a national level. HFW will amplify these results by providing a professional media packages on behalf of the participants as well as providing the platform to showcase the talents. HFW is going beyond just holding fashion shows but also who will be in attendance and who will be exposed to the shows through extensive media coverage. These efforts will create life after the show. HFW will continue to host numerous seminars and information sessions to provide the relevant skills and education for the stakeholders to succeed. The stakeholders have requested that HFW provide programs on business related issues not taught in schools; branding, developing a business plan and retailing are seminars already being offered by HFW. HFW provides these courses at an 'at cost' rate to the stakeholders. In the local world of fashion there has been a lack of local connections and business relationships. Most boutiques order from catalogues based overseas or from the United States. There is a disconnect between working professionals within the same city. HFW will invite all boutique owners and fashion distributors to provide a meeting place and an opportunity to do business. HFW will be targeting fashion professionals from Niagara Falls to Waterloo to Toronto. An introduction to the incredible local talent is required. These programs are lacking in Hamilton and Canada and will build the local fashion industry.
