So anyone who’s met me knows that I walk with the assistance of a cane most of the time; after a couple lower back surgeries with multiple complications resulting in extensive scar tissue damage, I have been left with chronic pain, and severe muscle atrophy.

After 5 years of trying every conventional therapy possible, I had formulated a plan of my own for rehabilitation once we moved here, a part which included riding! I took the summer to rest, heal, relieve the stress of moving and this week I started. I used to ride many many years ago, so I do know some basics, but I’m really weak.

My MIL is fantastic helping me! The first day I just walked in circles in the round pen for 10-15 minutes, no pain, but sore in a good way. Today she set up some barrels so I could practise serpentines with leg pressure. After 10 minutes my legs were shaking and felt like jelly. 🤣 However, I’ve been really careful not to push too hard, just take it to my limit plus a minute or two, and I’ve discovered that riding exercises the very muscles that are affected the most, better than the stretching or Pilates I’ve been doing.

So I don’t know if I’ll be able to join the rest of the family on a trail ride this fall, but with regular riding I think I’ll be able to join in next spring:) This is Missy and I, she’s been so good and patient with my confusing mixed leg signals 🤣

Well the dreaded sickness hit our house, and it seems I was spared (although I’m pretty sure I already had it). So we’ve been spending all our time in isolation. Yay! Last day was the day they lifted isolation protocols. LOL

So now back to regular business:)
Monday afternoon is the day I will pick up any repairs from Greenhawk Thunder Bay, and return the previous weeks at the same time. So if they need to be washed, be sure to get them in the previous week so they have time to launder them before I pick up. Remember, I only accept clean blankets to avoid jamming my machine with dirt and debris.

The weather is cooling down at night, and now is the perfect time to start assessing what needs to be fixed on your winter gear. This will help me prevent a ‘traffic jam’ of repairs when the weather turns really nasty!

Same blanket, different lighting, all fixed….

What one person thinks is really bad and possibly unrepairable ends up being a fairly straightforward rip repair:)

If you’ve got something you think is too far gone, you can always send it to me for a quote and I’ll let you know if it really can’t be fixed. You may be surprised.

Drop your clean blankets at Greenhawk Thunder Bay or leave your dirty ones for a wash before sending them out for repair; Anna does a fantastic job laundering them.

Welcome to my page!

My husband is a newly retired CAF veteran and we’ve retired to the Murillo area where he helps his dad and stepmom on the farm, and I homeschool our horse crazy daughter and do all things crafty,

I’m providing horse blanket repairs for the Thunder Bay equestrian community. You can see the pinned post of prices, and I’m very happy to announce I’ve partnered with the local Greenhawk Thunder Bay so you can drop your blankets there for washing, and then I’ll pick them up for repairing!

If you’re washing your own blankets, but don’t have time to drop them off to me, I offer a pick up and drop off service for a small fee within 40 km of Murillo.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and being able to provide a much needed service!
