Mexico City was so good for my brain. The colours, the textures, the galleries, the history, the people, the food. A 20 photo carousel hardly feels like enough. Here’s a snippet from one of the journals I wrote while I was taking it all in:

Why do we create apartments and shopping complexes and schools and furniture in palettes of grey and brown back home? Walking and biking block after block and seeing colourful strings of flags out front of homes painted lilac with green wavy metal safety bars on the windows or bright cobalt blue walls with orangey trim is so special. It feels good to be around. Have we stripped away colour in North America on purpose? I can’t understand why we would choose sterile grey wood floors over warm terracotta tiles.

Grid on the grid… which I guess isn’t a true grid because it’s no longer 1:1. (How are we adjusting to that btw?)

On my never-ending list of home diy projects, I have the finishing touches of this upstairs bathroom—caulking, trim, filling and painting over holes made during the shower install. Everything looks cute and fine from afar, but there are lots of little bits that are not actually cute upon close inspection. 🧐 It’s the reality of do it yourself projects… at least for me. I get to 90% then I’m on to the next!

If you saw my latest Stories you already know that I’ve been thinking about changing my username. I put up a poll and y’all have been so supportive of my silly little idea! The DMs that I’ve received about it have also brightened my day. Thank you for being here and thank you for your feedback! What a wonderful community of folks who also appreciate colour and design, and are interested in exploring the playful side of it all.

In the coming days I’m going to switch this account over to . You don’t have to do anything, the account name will simply change over, and Vintage Fuze will remain active for my vintage housewares that I sell at pop-ups and local markets from time-to-time.

The other day my insta friend posted some images of chairs that her brain made with AI and it was so fun to scroll! Working with AI to prompt it to create images of objects and spaces I describe has become one of my favourite pastimes this past year, but I’ve never shared anything here. Over the holidays my niece and nephew, who are seven and four, also got into it—two of their image prompts are at the end. Here are some of the fuzzy orange lamps it created for me recently using prompts like ‘short orange fun fur’, ‘spiky lucite’, and ‘chrome base’.

Happy 2025 and all that jazz! This these photos were taken almost three years apart to the day. Peep the kitchen—I often forget what a glow up it has had with its darker walnut-stained cabinets and removal of the glass doors, porcelain grid backsplash and of course the addition of an island. We even said goodbye to that big ol black fridge! 🪄
