I handcraft beautiful Silk & Merino Wool Felted Scarves and Shawls. A wet felting workshop at my local yarn shop is where my obsession with felting all began.

A global pandemic forced us to re-evaluate our lives and provided us with the time to explore interests we wouldn’t have normally had the time to pursue. I don’t mind saying, my first creation was far from pretty, but I was determined to explore this fascinating process of merging silk materials with wool, silk and other fibres….and now I am truly hooked!

This scarf is inspired by the red dirt that sits beside an aqua blue ocean found in Broome, Western Australia.

Superfine merino wool is decorated with beads, sequins, silk cocoons, pieces of prefelt then laminated with sheer tissue silk.

This beautiful colour combination reminds me of Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. What does it remind you of?

What started with turquoise and lime wool tops, hand dyed silk from Australia, wool locks, viscose fibres and handspun yarn has turned into a stunning piece of wearable art.

Wondering what Nuno Felt is? It is the technique that bonds loose fibre, usually wool, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt. The fibers can completely cover the background fabric, or they may be used as a decorative design that allows the backing fabric to show. Nuno felting often combines several layers of loose fibres to build up the finished fabric's color, texture, and design elements.
