Hi everyone.. It's a beautiful day!
Bethany here and happy to have some time in my days at home and for sure, at the Tett Center and my small Studio that faces Lake Ontario. I love the Lake and looking outside my Studio - seeing it every day as I work, and all the while, getting back to serious creativity. I am starting to focus on my new artwork as Fall arrives!! The opportunity to begin adding MY ART that is calling, and now, along with some projects I promised to work on, I am back at work!!

I've been thinking about time - and the many days that passed so fast! It's been a few months since I sent my FIBREWORKS KINGSTON notes, and my love of working and MAKING right here with all of you!

I would love to welcome you back "home" ... come by for a visit at the Tett Studios 214D, and I hope to see you in the months before our new year! Miss you!!

There is much happening as we walk into October. Perhaps stop by on the 4th of Oct. as the Tett celebrates our TETT@10 Anniversary all day and into the evening... (follow the "Events" pages from the Tett Centre!!

Busy at the studio today with meeting several new friends and allowing for some time to learn about the Tett Centre and our studio work... Good fun to meet visitors, and chat with those who are enjoying their visits in Kingston, and a possible opportunity for them to stop by our RETREAT this weekend...

I spent the day stitching, and creating a couple of Journal Covers for upcoming "OPEN DOORS" sales in August! Pulled out some beautiful "twiggy" yarn found in the indigo dye pots a couple of weeks ago...indigo heaven! (the twiggy means it did not initially love HOT water...)

Early 6:15 am walk with hubby to the KP Trail Escarpment - soooo hot here in the area... but a bit cooler early AM. Loved the mossy rocks and more ferns to enjoy!

Retreat weekend is coming along fast in the Rehearsal Hall at the Tett Centre - drop me a pm if you are interested in joining us for two days of fun and MAKING!!!

Waiting, thinking, wondering how to bring friends and local/new art students closer to begin focusing on their own artwork, play...

Rachel Singleton, Artist, reminded me of the thoughts that seem to be roving in my mind...(and this treasured Jacob Norby quote...).

This is where I work and think of you as I look out of my Studio 214D window, enjoying time for moving toward some summer art play and seeing you along the way!

Always in my thoughts! Stop by the Tett Centre and meet the artists in our Creativity Studios and the terrific second-floor Weavers, Potters and Lapidary Guilds/groups. Come in for a visit and have a great walk about inside where it is cool...or enjoy time on the patio outside the Juniper Cafe and along the Lake Ontario waterfront...

Remember as you start to focus on a few projects this month and days coming along soon that summer days bring the opportunity to explore painting, printing, Indigo dye playm gelli printing, making with acrylics on paper and cloth and sooooo much more...

This morning the walks into the hills of the KP Trails as a treat for Father's Day with hubby, I had a chance to capture some inspiration for my 'Let's Stitch Again - Like We did Last Summer" Retreat Days at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning, and so many beautiful bits to consider as I plan my work and inspire yours!!

While walking 11,000 hiking steps from our home and back , not a minute was wasted Being on the cool and slightly windy start on the trails by 8:30 am, the skies were blue and the plants and flowers brought me valuable shades of green, gold, rose of the clover heads, the soft yellows in the centres of the daisies, and so much more...

The Dragon Flies followed along, and the beautiful sightings of the black and white butterfly and a few birds we recognized as they lead the way ... TREASURE! Colour and texture, sightings and memories.. all a part of my fibre art MAKING! Come Play!

There are plans to be made and I would love to have you join me July 13/14th as I work on my art play and invite you to join in and work with me along the way. A Mini-Retreat with two full days for play and awesome new results for sure - Everyone Welcome (18+).

ANEMONE - what a beautiful plant to come across as I am foraging this morning and searching out a few leaves and plants that are long the KP Trails... so many to explore and bring into my own art!

I am beginning to build on my favourite outdoor projects and preparing to welcome friends and students into my Two Day Retreat - "Let's Stitch Again, Like We Did Last Summer!". I will be working along with all of the students/friends, sharing some fun along the two days with my own eco-prints during the Retreat, July 13 and 14th...

This is the perfect time of year as the leaves are in perfect condition before the small creatures that love to "chew" a bit and spoil the leaves and flowers used in the printing. There are the most unusual plants and some are hidden in the depths of the old trails... likely left after a farm garden along the trails has disappeared over the years.

I'll be at my studio at the Tett often during the month of June... lots of work underway and I love searching for the the plants, rocks, logs, old vines and other 'forgotten' treasures I see along my morning/evening walks that will be considered for my weaving or enjoyed as new art evolves...

Please plan to join me at Kingston's beautiful lakefront Arts Hub - the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning! Find friends and students joining me in my 'LET'S STITCH AGAIN, Like We Did Last Summer" MINI-RETREAT! The two-day event will find our artist friends joining in to work on THEIR favourite projects and having a chance to enjoy some of my artwork and support along the way!

The date is set, July 13 and 14th, 2024, and we have space for all of the various student projects underway! Creating art with cloth and stitch, design play, and exploring the various planned projects our students will be working on - treasured time!!

Enjoy being together in our Tett Centre Rehearsal Hall on Level Two where you will have your own table! Start thinking now about the time to begin collecting your plans and projects/design play that YOU will enjoy! We all love sharing our skills, and great meals at the Juniper Cafe on the patio. Just home from the morning hile and today we FINALLY caught the KP Trail Beaver pond "father in the pond" - and while you can't really see the creature that keeps us all waking north to see him - We Did... for about 3 seconds! Just carrying a small branch in his mouth and then disappearing.

Next came the beautiful Swan family (parents and five small swan babes) and a group of Geese (parents and nine babes) that have landed along the trail's 'beaver pond' north of Murton Road...

Area Cyclists are out with us early and (riding in large numbers along the trails this morning with numbers pinned on their backs .... if you are a walker, be prepared! Most are kind and move in a bit slower and on single file.)

Please also remember that the local area neighbors who are horse riders have full rights for all cyclists to take care in passing... slowing the speed along the trail REIGNS, please.

Good start on this Morning - and the rain has passed.
A bit cooler, the birds are feeding their young and the trails are open... and it's time for gathering leaves and bits of the ferns as I ready for some sun prints. This is such a beautiful time of year.

Enjoy your busy days, travel as you love to, work in the gardens, and enjoy time at the cottage ...and MAKE ART!!

2024-06-06... another warm morning, but morning brings us scattered rain, said to be on the way and if lucky, will cool the evening... Finished collecting my Indigo hand-dyed cloth, worked on some dyed wool, and got through the pressing and readiness for a second new artwork at the studio... time gets in the way when so much is happening outdoors. Birds and rabbits and squrriels everywhere in the yard this morning!

We are enjoying days watching the beauty of summer;s Lake Ontario days where the studios are open as many days as possible, and welcoming visitors is good fun.

My "For the Love of Blue" Indigo Class in the Activity Room at the Tett on June 27-28th is open for Registration... pm me if you are interested. I'll save you a seat!
