When I had my babies, I loved watching them learn each new skill, like when they babbled, laughed, and then learned to roll over. What I didn't love about the new rolly polly phase (as I called it) was constantly worrying they'd roll into something like a coffee table, near stairs, or even onto a dirty floor where the dog had been sitting. I used conventional blankets and play mats to keep a barri
er between my babies and the floor but they'd eventually roll right off and I had to keep readjusting the play mat. Annoying - no mom has time for that! I would bring my playpen to the gym with me - bulky and annoying to set up. I started to wonder - why don't any of these play mats have sides that prevent the baby from rolling off? After a lot of research, I found a couple of products with raised sides but nothing really blew me away - they either didn't work, didn't pack up easily, or I just didn't like the look of them. So I decided to make my own play mat with 4" cylindrical sides that would prevent my baby from rolling off. I wanted to create a play mat with some very particular qualities. Something that:
• Could be easily carried, stored, and transported to places like the park, the beach, or even the boxing gym (where I was allowed to let my baby sit next to me as I boxed).
• Is more lightweight and quicker to assemble and take down than a playpen.
• Is multifunctional and can double as a bag as well - an easy grab and go solution that can pick up whatever toys are on the play mat in one easy motion. Lastly, but certainly not least importantly, something that is CUTE, stylish, and premium looking that I'd enjoy carrying around. We as moms sacrifice so much - I refuse to sacrifice style! This is how the Rolly Polly™ Baby Safety Play Mat was born!
