One glen plaid suit, five ways 🧵
Glen plaid (Prince of Wales check) reads as heritage and modern at once. Same suit, five shirts:
01 · Crisp white, lets the check lead
02 · Light blue, easy everyday
03 · Lavender, open collar, relaxed and distinctive
04 · Soft pink, gentle warmth
05 · Butter yellow, quiet character
One made-to-measure suit, five made-to-measure shirts, five looks. A patterned suit with a clean shirt is the easiest way to look considered.
Which shirt with the check?

Five ties cover almost everything.

You do not need a drawer full of ties. You need a few good ones that work with the suits you already own. Get these right and you are dressed for every occasion that matters.

The five to start with:
A burgundy with a bit of depth. The most useful tie there is. Works with navy, grey, and charcoal alike.
A navy or midnight blue. Quiet, formal, never wrong.
A dark black solid. Gets you through the most formal of occasions.
A small-patterned blue. A neat dot or geometric for when solids feel flat.
A pop of colour. Dresses a suit down for Friday or the weekend.

Stick to classic widths, and skip anything loud. A tie should finish an outfit, not run it.

Five ties, endless combinations. That is the whole point of a foundation.

Which of these is missing from your rotation?

How do you pack a suit without wrecking it?
Fold with intention, or better, carry it in a garment bag.
If you must fold, turn the jacket half inside out, shoulder into shoulder, and lay it flat on top of everything.
Roll a tie, do not fold it. Pack shoes in bags along the spine of the case.
On arrival, have it professionally steamed. Most hotels can arrange it, or send it out for one-day service.
What is your go-to way to travel with a suit?

Follow for a new style note every week.

One oxblood sport coat, five ways. Yes, you can wear it.

A rich burgundy jacket is the statement piece most men are scared of. Styled simply, it is striking, not loud.

01 White tee + sneakers. Let the colour carry the whole look.
02 Oxford shirt + loafers. Pale blue cools down all that warmth.
03 Knit polo + chukka boots. Tonal and rich, built for autumn.
04 Roll-neck + loafers. Deep colour, clean lines, very grown-up.
05 Chambray shirt + sneakers. Casual enough to wear it anywhere.

A pocket square in each, kept understated.

Would you wear oxblood, or is it a step too far? Honest answers only.

Tan is a warm-weather, daytime suit. After dark you restyle it, you do not retire it.

A summer evening event does not mean black tie. Take your tan suit, add a deeper shirt or a fine knit, switch to brown suede or polished leather, and it reads perfectly for a warm night out. Keep it tonal and let the warmth carry it.

Tan is proof that evening does not always mean dark. It means attention to detail.

Light suit, low light, still sharp.

Tan for a summer evening, would you?

The first step to being evening ready is in the comments.

Five ways to wear a brown suit 🤎
Brown is warmth, confidence, and a break from the boardroom blues. Same suit, five shirts:
01 · Crisp white, crisp against the warm cloth
02 · Light blue, classic, easy contrast
03 · Ecru, open collar, tonal and relaxed
04 · Soft sage, earthy and modern
05 · Pale pink, soft and unexpected
One made-to-measure suit, five made-to-measure shirts, five looks. Brown pairs with more of your wardrobe than you think.
Would brown make your rotation?

You have the clothes. You still stand there at seven in the morning guessing.

Which shirt with which jacket.

Whether those two greys are fighting each other.

Whether you are overdressed for the room you are walking into.

Guessing every morning is tiring, and nobody ever taught you the rules.

A Style Call teaches you the rules for your own wardrobe.

45 minutes, one to one.
