Three generations, held in place.

I’m experimenting with a new way of constructing the enamel portraits for my Matrilineal Fascinator project. Rather than relying on adhesive, I’m using hand-formed silver prongs to mechanically hold each enamel image in its copper backing.

The prongs become part of the language of the pieces—visible, imperfect, and deliberately handmade. Each portrait is literally held within its own framework, creating a small object of memory and remembrance.

These are still works in progress, but seeing the three together is giving me a sense of where this series is going.
