We have a new page and some new faces so I wanted to take some time to introduce myself and how I got to where I am today. My name is Christy and I live in the Edmonton area of Alberta, Canada. I'm wife to my husband, Dan, mama of 2 little ones, J who is 3 and A who is 20 months and a fur baby, Lexi. I've been a crafter my entire life and have enjoyed sewing since my pre teen years. At the beginning of the pandemic I began sewing masks for my family and close friends as a way to help keep busy while being stuck at home and with a "just in case we need to wear these" state of mind. I don't think any of us imagined that face masks would become such a staple part of our accessory attire, and for most people, a mandatory requirement, but here we are today. Eventually I began sewing for others who became interested through word of mouth and in September I decided to step it up and make masks for donations to the Stollery Children's hospital. Our daughter, A, was born with a congenital urinary tract defect so the Stollery has a very special place in our hearts as this is where she has been treated since birth and had surgery there this past June to correct part of the defect. I was blown away by the support we recieved and with the help of my Mom, we were able to sew over 170 masks and raise $700 in donations! So here I am today, almost a year after sewing my first mask and still enjoying it! Thank you for joining me over here at Mama Bear Sewing and for your patience as I get things set up here.
