Make sure you have lots of time to have your dress altered.
This alteration may look quick and easy.
But it is a much bigger job to open the back of the dress, alter the waistline, remove half of the boning, then smooth the lining.
RUSH charges may also have been applied.

Today my job was a repair to a ruffled and layered dress
It is a little difficult to see the gathered layers but the bottom layer seam had ripped an 8" gap.
To repair it properly, the gathers had to be rethreaded to the exact length of the tear on the skirt. Then sewn to that portion of the dress.
