It all started with pregnant me, Angela, in a prenatal yoga class at rebirth wellness in London, Ontario. A fellow mama-to-be asked our group if anyone knew of a place she could buy a nursing bra that might fit her larger chest size. She had been to all the maternity and bra stores and had no luck finding the right fit. She mentioned that she was hoping to be able to successfully breastfeed her ba

by and really didn’t want the fact that she couldn’t find a nursing bra to stand in her way. With my first, I had a hard time learning how to nurse comfortably and happily, and as a second time mama I thought to myself: learning to breastfeed is hard enough. Not being able to find a bra that fits you properly shouldn’t be a part of anyone’s nursing struggle. As a breastfeeding advocate with a background and interest in business, it seemed like opportunity had presented itself. The London Breastfeeding Boutique will offer a variety of nursing bras as well as nursing tanks, shirts, and sweaters. It will specialize in providing nursing mamas with the ideal fit to allow for comfortable, and dare I say, stylish, nursing. Launching in June 2018, the London Breastfeeding Boutique will begin as a weekly pop-up shop. I am pleased to announce my first pop-up shop location will be where the concept originated: the rebirth wellness centre in downtown London. Ooof closing your business is heavy.

Sitting down to write out an entire sheet of $10 price tags got me feeling all the feels.

Due to a death in my family I’ll need to cancel this week’s intended drop-in shopping hours that were scheduled for Thursday, August 3rd 3pm-6pm.

If you were hoping to shop with me this week, please send me a message and I will book an appointment with you before the end of day on Friday, August 4th.

To be a part of the summer promotion your second bra must be one of the bras in-store that come in the sizing “band+cup” (eg. 34D).

These bras tend to have more structure and lift than your average cozy stretchy nursing bra.

Some of them have wires and some do not, but my customers like to refer to all of them as “going out bras” for those times when a stretchy option just won’t do.

Next week is the beginning of summer break for school aged kids and I’m again making the decision to spend as much time with my kiddos as possible while I still can, which means The London Breastfeeding Boutique hours will be quite limited.

I’ve selected a handful of days over the summer where I’ll open the shop for drop-in, no appointment necessary shopping from 3pm-6pm (listed in photo) with the exception of one Saturday in August when the hours will be 11am-3pm that day.

If these days don’t work for you and you’d still like to shop at the boutique, send me a message and we can arrange for an appointment at a time that works for both of us.

This week I’m still open business as usual for Wednesday June 28th 10am-3pm and Thursday June 29th 10am-3pm.

Truth time: I’ve thought more about closing my doors in the last six months than I have for the last 5 years. More in my stories from yesterday if they’re still up.

It has been a hard time for small business [and almost everyone as everything has gotten more expensive]. Things aren’t trending in the right way, and it’s really starting to weigh on my mind and my heart. I’m not totally ready to make any significant decisions right now, I’m just sharing where I’m at.

They say running your own business is a roller coaster you have to learn to ride the ups and the downs, but I’m looking at how people are shopping these days and I’m worried this is a down that might not trend back up in a meaningful way again.

And yeah, I could always try the version where I’m working around the clock running myself (and my family) into the ground to make the business work, but I have to say I’m not overly interested in that.

Anyway, I don’t say this to be sensational. I say it because it’s the truth of what’s going on for me and part of the story that needs to be told. As always, thanks for listening friends ❤️

Coming up this week - I’m offering all my customers both in store and online 20% off their entire order during business hours this week as an early Mother’s Day celebration.

The sale begins Tuesday, May 9th and ends Thursday, May 11th.

Shop in store at 96 Wharncliffe Road South between 10am-3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, or online during that time for the same discounts.
