Most designers think the magic is in the fabric.

It’s not.

One of the biggest mistakes I see dressmakers make is choosing a petticoat before understanding what the outer fabric actually needs.

The wrong petticoat can:
❌ Make a gown collapse
❌ Create unnecessary bulk
❌ Ruin movement
❌ Turn a luxury gown into a costume

The right petticoat can:
✨ Create effortless volume
✨ Improve movement
✨ Support the fabric properly
✨ Give the gown that luxury princess finish

And here’s the truth…

This is just ONE of hundreds of construction decisions that determine whether a princess dress looks professional or not.

Inside Princess Dress Lab, I break down these decisions step by step so you’re no longer guessing your way through couture dressmaking.

No more trial and error.
No more wasting fabric.
No more wondering why the dress doesn’t look the way you imagined.

Just clear frameworks, proven techniques, and the exact methods I use to create my gowns.

One thing that completely changed the way I design my dresses?
Mood boards. ✨

A lot of designers jump straight into sewing without fully developing the vision first… and that’s why many designs end up feeling random instead of intentional.

Before I create any of my best-selling princess dresses, I build a mood board to organize:
• colors
• textures
• silhouettes
• structure
• fullness
• embellishment ideas
• the overall feeling of the dress

This helps me create gowns that feel cohesive, luxurious, and unforgettable from the very beginning. 🤍

And honestly? Some of my most viral and requested dresses started from a simple mood board idea like this. 👀✨

If you want the mood board template I use for my own designs, comment “MOOD BOARD” below and I’ll send it to you 🤍

Before I start sewing, sketching, or cutting fabric, I create a mood board first.

This is where I organize the colors, textures, structure, fullness, and overall vision of the gown before bringing it to life. 🤍

A lot of my most loved princess dresses started from simple ideas placed together visually like this. And honestly, mood boards completely changed the way I design because they help me create gowns that feel intentional, cohesive, and luxurious.

Over the next few videos, I’ll be showing you how these mood board concepts slowly transform into finished dresses ✂️✨

Late Sunday post, but I’m just grateful to be here. 🌤️

The past few weeks have been soooo busy but I’m catching my breath, wearing yellow, and choosing joy anyway.

Sometimes showing up is the win.
