" Will signing with my baby delay his speech development?”
NO , Signing with your baby will not delay their speech or development ! Signing has many benefits to babies it can actually help them be able to communicate earlier and have a larger vocabulary once they do start speaking . A babies ability to understand what they see develops earlier then their ability to understand what they hear , they will understand what you are signing far before they understand what you are saying . Children who are signed to as well as spoken to are able to use vision , hearing and touch to learn language.

- As a baby's brain develops, the area responsible for understanding what is seen develops before the area responsible for understanding what is heard.. So because babies can use their hands and understand what they see sooner then they can speak and understand what they hear , they are able to learn and produce sign language earlier than they would learn and produce verbal language.
