These pieces are going to be a 'stained glass' quilt. The idea has been in my head for quite awhile, but I had never seen a pattern I liked. They all seemed to have too many straight lines. So, here is my start, with a few stars & some other made up pieces. We'll see how it turns out!

My summer sewing surprise quilt - done! The second picture is the back, made from leftover material. It takes longer to do as it is essentially designing a quilt, but then I don't have bits of material stored that I can't throw out because 'they might be useful someday'.

My Summer Sewing Surprise Quilt is finished - just under the deadline. It will be posted with many others (there were 105 participants.) on the web. People are at different stages with their quilts but many were finished & they are all very different, even though the same pattern was used.

Just got started on the Summer Sewing Surprise Quilt - we are sent instructions every 2 weeks with each step. We don't know what the quilt will be like when finished.
The first picture is the materials I chose with the addition of a black piece, a green piece and a very rusty piece which you can see in the second picture. The first step is always cutting the pieces. In the 2nd step, for this surprise, two each of the long pieces were sewn together.

These placemats were waiting for binding material as I ran out of the material I had. Had just been waiting for the quilt shops to open!
The second photo is my version of a string quilt, or a scrappy quilt - done. It's different but still appeals to me.
The second string quilt is done except for burying a few threads. I am now struggling with a 'mat' made from rope wrapped with selvages. My machines is not happy about zigzagging through the rope so it is a slow process.

The first 2 pictures are bucket hats I made for 2 of my granddaughters. They were surprisingly easy to make. One has dancing girls and unicorns in rainbow colours, the other has rainbows and Pegasus.
The 3rd picture is a quilt I crocheted. It was not difficult to do but it was difficult to follow the pattern correctly. I am pleased with the finished product.

Have you ever thought about quilting virtually? The idea came to me as I was waking up this morning. You would never have to rip out any mistakes! I have been quilting the curves on my 2 bargello quilts, which are small quilts but still challenging, and I have done my share of ripping and requilting.

The first picture is an idea I thought of while working on other projects. I still had a lot of bits and pieces of material left & I was trying to think of an easier way to do a string quilt. I sorted the material into strip widths first and then into colour within each width. I sewed several strips at the ends until they got so long, it was ridiculous. So I sewed other strips together, same thing. I laid them out with the narrowest strips first to the widest strips. Then I decided on a random width for the quilt.
As you can see, the quilt was so long, I divided it into 2 smaller quilts. They are awaiting backing material - after the stores open again.
I am quite pleased with the look - it's amazing with so many different materials that it all comes together.

These snowflake hot placemats needed the binding done around the edge and I finally finished them. They have heat-holding material inside as well as a batting layer so the table is fully protected from hot dishes.

This is my Roughriders Quilt with a fuzzy back made for my partner (and for me!). I outlined 4 different poses of footballers which are shown on the back as they don't show up in the picture on the front.

The last several days, we have been self-isolating as advised by the government. Being retired it's not much different for us than usual except that church & all the volunteer meetings are cancelled. Maryfield is basically shut down except for the grocery store. I did grocery shop yesterday. We are in a very rural area so no signs of Covid-19 here yet.

I have been working on finished my several partly done projects: hand sewing the binding on 1 string quilt, trying to decide how to quilt the 2nd string quilt, getting the 20 placemats ready for binding and trying to ignore the 2 bargello quilts that are quietly waiting for some attention.
