Before the paint flies, the clock starts ticking, or a single vote is cast, every Art Slam artist needs one very important thing. A blank canvas.

This year, every canvas that enters the Art Slam: BOTANICA ring has been generously sponsored by Sunday Restoration Midland, making owner Jacqueline Sunday an integral part of the creative process!

Of course, that’s only one of the hats Jacqueline wears around Quest. She’s also a member of our Board of Directors and part of the incredible committee working behind the scenes to bring Art Slam: BOTANICA to life.

Based right here in Midland, Sunday Restoration is a treasure trove of vintage home décor, original artwork, lighting and Mid-Century Modern finds, carefully curated with an eye for quality, character and giving beautiful things another life.

That spirit of giving extends well beyond the shop. Sunday Restoration donates 50% of the proceeds from all donated goods sold to local charities and not-for-profit organizations, contributing more than $7,000 back into our community since opening in 2022.

Jacqueline, you give so much of your time, energy and enthusiasm to Quest, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you’ve put into making this night possible.

On September 1st, we ended our community giving campaign supporting the Terry Fox Run - Heart of Georgian Bay . We are so thrilled to announce that for the first time in our fundraising history, thanks to all of the people who donated amazing items to our shop, we surpassed $500 and we’re able to give $600. Our Midland chapter will be having an online auction go live on September 10th and I encourage everyone to check it out, create a team, or sponsor someone you know this September. We are officially 10 DAYS OUT from Art Slam: BOTANICA, and if your ticket is still sitting on your mental to-do list, consider this your sign to MOVE IT TO THE TOP.

On September 12th, 20 artists will step up to a blank canvas and battle the clock through three adrenaline-fuelled rounds of live painting, while YOU help decide who moves forward and who ultimately takes the crown. Add in live and silent auctions, delicious bites from Feast Catering, a room full of art and community enthusiasts and one seriously spectacular night at the Midland Cultural Centre, and trust us...

What is the water that you love?

For some, it’s the place they learned to swim. The dock where summer seemed endless. The shoreline that always feels like coming home.

For artist Alexandra McLaughlin | Painter, that place is Georgian Bay.

This September, Quest Art School + Gallery is proud to present Close to the Water, Alex’s first solo exhibition, an immersive experience inspired by the restorative power of water and the profound connections we carry with the places that shape us.
Through expressive paintings filled with movement, light, and layered colour, Close to the Water invites visitors of all ages to slow down, reconnect with nature, and reflect on the waters that have left their mark on their own lives.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, September 11th, 2026, from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, and be among the first to experience this remarkable exhibition. Additional programming, including an artist talk, a special State of the Bay presentation, and watercolour workshops for children and adults, will be announced in the coming weeks.

We can’t wait to share this very special exhibition with our community.
