Dear running buddies, I (Laura) have some big, personal news to share with you.⁠
⁠
After many wonderful years of owning and growing Cowichan Valley Running, the time has come for me to “pass the baton.” I am so excited to announce that starting July 1st, my longtime team member Dusty Spiller is officially taking over the reins!⁠
⁠
Dusty is already a familiar face to anyone who visits the store or comes out to run club. Seeing his passion for running and his deep commitment to our community gives me total peace of mind as I step back - I know the shop and everything we've built is in the best possible hands.⁠

While ownership is changing, the heart of the shop is staying right where it is. CVR will remain a welcoming, inclusive, local, and family-owned business, with Dusty and his wife, Kayle, leading the way. They are fully committed to keeping our values, our community spirit, and our weekly runs going strong for runners and walkers of all abilities.⁠

More than anything, I want to thank you all for supporting my dream and making this shop what it is today. Thank you for the kindness, the friendship, and every single mile we've shared out on the roads and trails. Being part of this incredible community has been an absolute privilege.⁠

While I’m moving on to my next chapter, I’m thrilled to watch Dusty and Kayle lead CVR into theirs. They’ve got some wonderful new ideas to support local runners of all levels, so stay tuned for what’s ahead, and please join me in giving them the warmest welcome.⁠

Yes - you might need to gently confiscate those old worn-out sneakers, but it's the perfect way to show some appreciation for the guy who always steps up for us.⁠

New month, new route! 🗓️

After a packed month of Thursday night run clubs and some epic trail adventures, we’re ready to jump into June.

For this month’s route, we’re hitting the Nightingale out-and-back, with 5K, 8K, and 10K options. Whether you’re training for a race or looking for a running community in the Cowichan Valley, we’ve got a spot for you. See you this Thursday for our 6pm departure 🌅

He is officially back!! ❤️

Our amazing Dusty has been away on paternity leave for the last few months, soaking up every moment with his growing family. While we’ve deeply missed his energy and expertise around the shop, we are so incredibly proud of him for taking the uninterrupted time to be present for his family.

He’s officially back on the shop floor starting this Saturday, May 30th.

We know how much this community loves Dusty, so please stop by this weekend to talk everything running, share a few dad jokes and give him the warmest welcome back 🫂
