Once again, we're reminded the hard way: 2 firefighters on the first arriving truck is not enough.
National safety standards are clear — a minimum of 4 is required for safe and effective operations.

Here in Miramichi, we continue to respond with just 2 on the initial arriving fire truck, putting firefighter and public safety at risk every single day.

For over a decade, your Miramichi Professional Firefighters have been advocating for increased staffing — not for convenience, but for your safety and ours. Time and time again, our firefighters continue to be taxed.

We did the best we could with what we had — and what we had was not enough.

Starting the morning before the sun came up today, our senior Fire Inspector and Investigator Corey Shaddick (17yrs), was on scene of a structure fire, sifting through the debris to determine the cause and origin of the fire. This busy position holds a number of roles in the department, from appointment as a Fire Marshal for the City of Miramichi, to community education, to fire suppression. Have a great day, Corey!
