It's printing out patterns day! Sewing does not begin when you sit down at the sewing machine. There are so many steps in the process.

It starts with figuring out what you want to wear. Figuring out what fabric you will use. And then, choosing the pattern.

I am working on several projects in different parts of the sewing journey.

Today's step is printing out and PDF assembly of 2 tops that I will be adding to my wardrobe.

I wrestle with cutting out my size only vs. cutting all sizes for that "just in case I make it in a another size" moment. Today I chose the latter.

Therefore my next step is tracing and drafting the pattern for any custom measurements. I generally shorten the length of all my patterns.

My from back in December. I made this dress for a wedding and I loooove it!
I am super happy with the end result. It gives me Tina Turner vibes.

I added matching lining to the inside of the dress so it would fall better. Cutting off some of the sequins at the neckline and all along the arm holes is the key to comfort. Some sequins can be sharp. I did manage to scratch myself on the inside of my arms. It was the sequins on the side-boob. They managed to do a bit of damage when I was dancing the night away at the wedding.

Happy New Year! I'm kicking off my 2024 with adding a new hobby in addition to sewing.

Shout out to my swimming buds .k.o and . I don't think I'd actually keep going if you guys were not with me. Even though we are in the whirlpool, we do in fact lane swim. 🏊‍♂️ 👙

I wish I could say I made my swim suit but I did not...Amazon purchase.

I did try to make a bikini that unfortunately got thrown in the garbage out of frustration. Will post about that experience soon. Good times and a tin of laughs during that project.

I am inspired to make a new one-piece suit in the near future. Time to start looking for great one-piece swimsuit patterns.

Any pattern suggestions?

Sporting my ...dress pattern. I love this pattern. It is so versatile and a staple pattern in my stash.
You can make the Nikko top in a variety of ways...shirt sleeves, sleevless, long sleeve. You can also play with the length. I have a white one that I made sleeveless and cropped.
Patti and I spent a few months making several iterations of the Nikko top. It was a whole lot of fun and we got faster at sewing as we got more acquainted with the pattern.
This dress in the photo was made with a structured ponte knit fabric so it is better for cooler weather.

It has been a minute since I have posted anything. and still are meeting regularly every Tuesday for our Tuesday Sewcials.

We have changed up our workflow to focusing one 1 pattern and making a ton of them.

PIC 1 for McCaul's cullotes, raw, organic silk.

I love these shorts. I live in these shorts as long as I can during the spring and summer months.

This pattern is on my TNT list (tried and tested). I have made this at least twice. If you have this pattern sitting in your stash, give it a try. I give it 💫💫💫💫💫.

How I long for fancy photo shots. I settle for my kids to snap pics when I remember. 😂

I think I need to learn how to take bathroom selfies.

Tried fabric painting on my muslin for my .

I have been working on these pants...or NOT...letting them sit around my sewing area since the summer is more accurate.

A muslin: a working test garment that you can alter and make all your adjustments or mistakes on before using your awesome, good fabric.

Making a muslin is a step I never miss with pants. I'm not great with sewing pants. (Insert and laughing at me).

I made this muslin on a mommy getaway back in the summer of '21.

The fabric is old ikea curtains that I used as a picnic blanket for years until I decided to cut them up for this pattern. Being a picnic blanket, their are tons of stains and discoloration.

I painted the areas that were really stained. Lucky for me I am a homeschooler and I happen to have a s**t ton of paints including fabric paint.

Now that I started painting, I can't stop! Lol

Anand...DONE my RUDY Sweatshirt!

So happy with the result.

I cut and sewed a straight size 6.

I added black ribbing to the cuffs and waistband I stead of using elastic.

The hood is a little bigger than I expected but I don't mind. I cut a size 6 but will down size the next time I make this pattern.

Fabric is a performance stretch polar fleece purchased years ago. Still sewing through my stash.

I will probably wear this everyday until the summer comes. It will fit so well in the rotation.

for some moisture wicking fabric
-browsed to check out more fabric.

-2 laptops
-1 awesome mic
-1 live-in audio engineer (my hubby) for all my technical issues

I am finishing up a new kimono dayrobe. No pattern for this one. I'm winging it. Surprisingly I only need to seam rip 2 times. Lol

I tested out live streaming on Twitch tonight and thankfully I didn't tell anyone. We had a ton of technical issues. Sound cutting in and out...sewing machine cam turning off. Just some of the joys of content creation.
