**Mr. Prime Minister, Mark Carney we believe there is an opportunity to help Canadian families, protect Canadian jobs and reinvigorate an industry that was devastated by the pandemic.**
Nearly 60% of dry cleaners across Canada were permanently shut down following the pandemic lockdowns.
On **April 11, 2024**, Dino Kantzavelos had the honour of representing the **Canadian Fabricare Association** before the **House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance in Ottawa**, advocating for an industry that employs more than **25,000 Canadians** and is built largely on small, independently owned businesses.
The proposal:
**A 25% household tax incentive for professional textile-care services**, including:
Dry cleaning.
Wet cleaning.
Laundry wash & fold.
Clothing repair and alterations.
Area rug cleaning.
Drapery and upholstery cleaning.
Why?
Because supporting these services does more than help one industry.
It helps keep **Canadian small businesses operating, Canadians employed and households saving money**, while encouraging people to maintain and repair what they already own rather than replace it.
A similar consumer incentive model was implemented in **Sweden** to support its fabric-care sector.
Now we believe it deserves serious consideration here at home.
This is not a partisan issue.
It is a **Canadian small-business issue. A jobs issue. A household affordability issue.**
So our message to Ottawa is simple:
**Mr. Prime Minister, can we bring The 25% Solution to life?**
