One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that we don’t have to stay on the path we started on.

We can evolve, reinvent ourselves, and become who we’re meant to be at any age.

I’ve been inspired by my best friend, 𝑱𝑨𝑺𝑶𝑵 𝑻𝑯𝑶𝑴𝑨𝑺 𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑳𝑳𝑬𝑾

Over the past 12 months, he’s faced his share of adversity and uncertainty, yet he continued to move forward with courage and purpose.

Many know him through his work in events, his role as Vice President of the Mississauga Arts Council, and as one of the The Marry Men | GTA’s Premier Wedding Officiants

What inspires me most is the path he’s chosen next.

Jason decided to become a Personal Support Worker, dedicating his time and energy to caring for our aging community. In a world that often celebrates titles and status, he chose service, compassion, and human connection.

That takes courage.

Watching him embrace this new chapter reminds me that success isn’t always about climbing higher, sometimes it’s about stepping into work that aligns with your values and your heart.

Jason, thank you for being a reminder that it’s never too late to take a risk, start over, and create a life that feels meaningful.

You inspire me every day and bring so much joy to everyone lucky enough to know you.

New summer mission unlocked: finding the best dog-friendly places in Ontario.

After the last few weeks, I’ve realized I want to spend more time doing things that bring me joy and for me, that means bringing Louis and Josie along for the adventure.

Today we visited Niagara-on-the-Lake and I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming it was for dogs.

From patios to wineries, the pups were included in so much of the experience. They received more attention than I did and seemed to make friends everywhere they went.

I also randomly ran into an old event planner friend, I did her wedding too.

As someone who loves road trips, patios, small towns, and discovering hidden gems, I’m making it my goal this summer to seek out places where dogs aren’t just tolerated, they’re genuinely welcomed.

So consider this my official call-out:

Being highly functional can make a medical situation surprisingly difficult to navigate.

You’re used to solving problems, managing schedules, helping others, and pushing through discomfort. So when your body suddenly asks you to slow down, rest, and wait, it can feel frustrating, confusing, and even a little heartbreaking.

The hardest part isn’t always the diagnosis. Sometimes it’s learning that healing isn’t something you can hustle.

This past week has reminded me that my worth isn’t measured by my productivity. That rest is still progress. That asking for help doesn’t mean I’ve failed. And that sometimes the strongest thing a highly capable person can do is trust the process instead of trying to control it.

I’m still learning. One day at a time.

This week, I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, and honestly, I’m still processing it. It’s been a bit of a shock.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working hard to set boundaries, say no when I’m at capacity, and let go of things that no longer serve me. Looking back, I truly believe my body was asking me to slow down long before this happened.

I’m going to continue living my life trying to enjoy summer while prepping for a tv show, but with a greater awareness that my health, nervous system, and well-being need to come first.

Sometimes the lessons we need most arrive in ways we never expected.

For now, I’m focusing on healing and patience (hahahahah).

Louis and I have the same smile.

Yesterday, I thought I was having a stroke.

After a trip to the ER and a lot of emotions, I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. While I’m grateful it wasn’t something more serious, it was a powerful reminder that our bodies often whisper before they scream.

The past few months have brought a lot of change.

Navigating perimenopause, starting HRT, managing headaches, adjusting routines, preparing for a busy summer, launching programs, and balancing work responsibilities.

Even when we think we’re managing it all, our nervous system is keeping score.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned this past year is how much movement impacts my well-being. Pilates has become more than exercise for me, it’s become a tool for regulating my nervous system, reducing stress, and creating space to breathe.

As work becomes busier, I’ve started cutting back, knowing that the transition itself would be a challenge.

Bell’s palsy can happen suddenly and often without a clear cause.
Was it stress? Was it inflammation? Was it related to my TMJ and jaw tension? Was it a combination of many factors? I may never know for certain.

What I do know is that my body asked me to slow down.

As someone who spends so much time encouraging others to prioritize their well-being, this is a reminder that I need to practice what I preach.

Rest is productive.
Healing is productive.
Listening to your body is productive.
