Dear Costco Management,
I am writing this message with deep concern, fear, and disappointment regarding a disturbing experience I had today at your Costco Wholesale location #515, 300 Rue Bridge, Montreal, QC H3K2C3 at 14:59.
As a new Executive Member and a kidney transplant patient, I trusted Costco to be a safe and respectful environment for me and my family. Unfortunately, today’s incident left me feeling completely shaken, unsafe, and frankly, disgusted.
We were being served at cash counter 44 by a courteous and professional gentleman named Viet-Van, who provided excellent service with a warm smile. After I paid, I began placing my lighter items into the cart slowly due to my weakened left arm and overall physical limitations following my kidney transplant. My son was still completing his payment when suddenly, without warning or permission, a female Costco employee began handling my already-paid items.
To my shock, she forcefully placed heavy 4.5kg bags of chicken on top of my eggs. I calmly asked her not to put heavy items over fragile ones like eggs. But instead of acknowledging or correcting her actions, she ignored my request and continued. When I repeated my concern, she repeatedly arguing with me, asking, “Are the eggs even broken?” Is that justified her behavior??
When I told her this was unacceptable and asked to see a supervisor, she laughed in my face and mockingly said, “Go ahead, I don’t care.” Then, to my horror, she pushed the cart toward me, and it struck me in the stomach directly where I had my kidney transplant. My entire body shook from fear and trauma, terrified that something had gone wrong with my transplant area.
I immediately asked for help. A young male employee responded and kindly escorted me to what seemed to be a head cashier. He said they would check the cameras and handle it. But I must ask:
Is this the kind of treatment Costco finds acceptable toward its customers especially one with serious medical conditions like mine?
I suffered for 15 years, spent 5 years on dialysis, and finally received a transplant. One careless, aggressive act like this could jeopardize everything I’ve fought so hard to survive.
I am now left emotionally shaken, physically unwell, and deeply concerned for my safety as a Costco customer. If an employee can behave this way without immediate accountability, how can vulnerable customers like me feel protected?
After returning home, I opened the egg carton and found five eggs were cracked inside. So now, who takes responsibility for that? It’s not just about the money it’s about basic respect, common sense, and customer care. Unfortunately, that employee showed none.
What she did was completely unacceptable. I sincerely urge you to provide her with proper training before she causes serious harm to another customer, especially someone with health vulnerabilities like myself. This is not just about broken eggs. It’s about dignity, safety, and human decency.
I respectfully urge you to investigate this incident immediately, take appropriate action, and provide a formal response on the outcome. I truly hope no other customer has to go through what I experienced today.
