Sweet Paprika Designs

Sweet Paprika Designs Sweet Paprika Designs is a Montreal-based small business providing hand-dyed yarns, kits, and knitti

Started in 2007 by sisters Elizabeth and Debbie Sullivan as a way to fund their fibre habit, Sweet Paprika has grown and the business now includes hand-dyed yarn, kits, patterns and classes. Our goal is to make beautiful yarns that complement any knitting or crochet project. We also strive to create patterns that are wearable, fun to make, and classically stylish. Since moving to Montreal in 2008

we’ve been building our community of fellow fibre enthusiasts here, and have taught many new friends to knit and crochet. Please note, our studio location is open for yarn pickups by appointment only. Please contact us by email ([email protected]) if you're thinking of dropping by.

We're super excited to offer pre-orders for a limited number of copies of this great new book by master spinner Michelle Boyd!

https://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/products/a-users-guide-to-yarn-everything-knitters-crocheters-weavers-need-to-know-about-yarn-to-level-up-your-craft

A User's Guide to Yarn provides crafters with a thorough explanation of yarn, from what it's made of to how it's constructed, and how those two factors interact to influence how yarn behaves when it's knitted, crocheted, and woven.

It's everything you didn't know you didn't know about yarn!

Even if you're a lifelong crafter or fibre artist, you will learn things that will open your mind and your imagination to how you use yarn. If you're a novice or have never thought deeply about how yarn affects the cloth you make, this book will seriously level up your craft.

All pre-orders will ship on the official release date of June 16, 2026.

ENG: The instructor for our upcoming Intro to Natural Dyeing workshop is Armen Keuchguerian. As a gardener and natural dyer, Armen works closely with plants, drawing out their hidden hues and transferring them onto textiles. A passionate enthusiast of fibre crafts, he finds great joy in transforming natural elements into yarn, colour, and cloth.

My first experience of natural dyeing was with Armen many years ago when we dyed the yarn shown here with madder roots and pomegranate extract. If you'd like to try natural dyeing yourself we still have space in our upcoming workshop on June 6th (no experience needed - all materials provided). https://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/collections/classes-workshops/products/intro-to-natural-dyeing-workshop

The last Grazioso pattern we're highlighting this week is Meandering Pathway by Kira Dulaney. This versatile shawl comes in two sizes, which are both worked upward from the delicate lace edging. Eyelets take a circuitous route on the back panel while shaping is worked in the lace body, for a cropped triangular shape loosely based on Faroese shawls. Shown here in Grazioso in our Foxglove colourway.

You can find the pattern on Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/meandering-pathway-shawl) and our website (https://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/products/meandering-pathway)
