What if we stopped making stuff?
A hypothetical thought experiment I find interesting - if we ignore the job loss aspect and focus on whether or not we’d be okay as a society using the flatscreens, cars, and toaster ovens that already exist.
Planned obsolescence and innovation purely for the sake of novelty (not function) are ever present in today’s marketplace, because that’s what’s necessary for companies to stay above water. What if, instead, repairability, reliability, and longevity were incentivized?
