Like Oscar Wilde’s character, Dorian is the result of a long-standing obsession with style. After running Question Mark Society, a 60s boutique in the Montorgueil area of Paris, graphic designer and mid-century dandy Archibald Mark decided that Montreal would be the perfect place to open a space dedicated to the golden age of European chic, where haute couture, avant-garde and street fashion would meet.

In a setting that owes as much to the gentlemen’s tailors of Savile Row as to Mary Quant’s Bazaar, but also to El Lissitzky’s geometrical Proun Room and Robert Mallet-Stevens’s stylized sets in L’Inhumaine, you will find a range of men and women’s clothes and accessories, carefully selected for the quality of their cut, fabric and design, in many variations on the European cool of the 1920s-60s: the flappers and the Bright Young People of the Roaring Twenties, the Latin Quarter’s Zazous, the Existentialists of Saint-Germain-des-Près, the jaded jet-setters of La Dolce Vita, the modernist disciples of cool jazz, “Italian look” and pop art, the Nouvelle Vague’s gamines, the Swinging London’s dolly birds and psychedelic dandies…

Now, Dorian is also a womenswear brand designed and produced under the idea of modern cool. Inspired by the 20’s modernism, the refined style from the mid 50’s to the mid 60’s and the French cool of the Nouvelle Vague movies, it offers high end garments for the modern elegant women, made exclusively in Italy and in Spain in very small quantities.
