La neige arrive, on se met au tricot! Ce petit kit de laine norbouillet a été teint à la main grâce à la magie des racines de garance (hé oui, d'où vient notre nom!) Cette laine locale à 2 brins est fine et souple, parfaite pour toute création où on veut un bel effet drapé. Je verrais bien un grand châle triangulaire en dégradé de ces couleurs.. et vous, vous imaginez quoi ? 😍

Color extraction day! Did you know that the natural dyeing process can be twice as long as that of synthetic dyes? Thankfully, we don't mind taking our time... 🐌

The reality is that the convenience of synthetics is offset by enormous environmental harms. All synthetic dyes are made from petrochemicals such as benzene, a carcinogenic agent. These conventional dyes are unsustainable and fuel an industry which has been known to contaminate freshwater around the globe.

Nature requires us to slow down, and act with mindfulness and respect for the Earth.

The subtle magic of henna, madder, indigo and cochineal.. From a single source of dye, a truly mind boggling variety of shades can be achieved. That is because natural dyes are sensitive to so many factors during the dyeing process, such as pH, temperature, water purity, time, fermentation, specific growing conditions of the dye plant, whether we sing to it or not, etc. 😉 The unpredictability of color is part of what we love and celebrate about our !
