The New Dundee Emporium, a Township of Wilmot designated heritage building, was built in 1887 as the Jubill Block by prominent New Dundee citizen Gottleib Bettschen to honour Queen Victoria's 50th year of reign. The Building is good example of Victorian mercantile architecture with fine detailing, and it retains many of its original interior and exterieur features. The original store bins, drawers
, flooring and gas lighting fixtures are still in place. The building has always housed a store, although Gottleib Bettschen never operated it himself. He owned the property and had several tenants including Joseph Clemens, Jacob Kreisel, Alvin Clemens and Herman Kavelman purchased the Block in 1910 and operated the general store until 1971. Then Bill and Trish Simpson bought the place and convert it as a tea room and gift store .Now owned by Mark Harrison and Danny Duchesne the building still retains all its original fixture and has retmained in business for 125 consecutive years in the picturesque village of New Dundee
