A lot of wedding gowns have the sheer bodice. Some like it; some don't.

This lovely bride wanted it lined. I found a dreamy fabric to use that worked perfectly! It requires a lot of pinning and hand sewing, but patience definitely paid off.

Doesn't she look stunning?

A common question is...."Can you take in jeans?"

Yes! If your favourite jeans are now too big, drop them off during open hours (Tuesday to Friday from 12-5) ๐Ÿ˜€

Two silk blouses with two different repairs.

1. The armhole area was ripped past the seam. Many times this is caused by deodorant/sweat breaking down the natural fibre. Repair was successfull with only a small amount of fabric lost.

2. The elastic neckline was completely stretched out. Thankfully, it was not topstitched in the casing.

When hemming anything "bridal", all layers are carefully taken apart and reconstructed so it looks exactly the same.

This "blueberry " coloured gown had a ruffle on one side of the front slit. It needed some trimming to match the new hemline.

Don't forget to use those ribbon hangers to prevent your straps from stretching ๐Ÿ˜€

Today's post is a tip....

Recently, a friend was visiting the shop while I was doing some hand sewing. She left saying, "I learned a lot today."

What she noticed was me cutting the thread on an angle, not just cutting the thread straight across. Also, the shorter you hold the thread to the eye of the needle the quicker it will go in.

Have a great weekend ๐Ÿ˜€

I'm back from vacation and right back into the swing of a busy bridal season.

This bridal dance dress was custom made (on-line). It is beautiful but the waist needed to be nipped in a bit. After removing the beads/sequence and lifting the zipper, it was time to put the magic into place.

I forgot a picture before, but this is during and after. The beads/sequence is an actual fabric that is placed over the dress once it's constructed.

After I graduated from George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology (Creative Fashion Design), my first job before moving into an actual factory setting was with a fabric supplier to fashion houses.

The fabric from this recently shortened gown reminded me of those days.

Do you know what it's called? The answer is in the comments.

The client wanted the sleeves shortened on this lovely silk dress. As always, the same type of hem was put back on (unless otherwise requested). With so many years experience, knowing how to work the fabric requires no special foot attachment.
